It’s been almost 40 years since the original Beverly Hills Cop movie – but Eddie Murphy is back as Axel Foley once again.
Thanks to Netflix.
From The Messenger:
Four decades years after Eddie Murphy initially threw on a Lions jacket to play the wise-cracking Det. Foley, the Oscar-nominated actor reprises his iconic role in the first trailer for Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.
In this brief teaser, you’ll see Murphy smile his way through some shoot-outs, reunite with old chums, make some new ones (hi, Joseph Gordon-Levitt!) — plus hear a hip hop style version of the original Harold Faltermeyer synthesizer theme “Axel F.”
Released in 1984, Beverly Hills Cop launched Murphy to superstardom and earned over $300 million at the box office, leading to sequels in 1987 and 1994. Now, three decades since the last installment, the long-gestating fourth film finds Foley once again heading from Detroit to Beverly Hills and reuniting with some familiar faces (and hopefully putting a banana in someone’s tailpipe!).
One of Murphy’s biggest Hollywood roles, back again.
We can’t wait.
