Rumor: Nicolas Cage Appears As Superman In ‘The Flash’ Cameo Among Other Nods To DC Film History
Nicolas Cage could play Superman in The Flash for a couple of seconds and other legacy cameos might be in store as well.
Nicolas Cage may live out one of his dreams and finally, after 25 years play a version of Superman. This version was meant for a film directed by Tim Burton that was never made, ultimately. Still, it could make an appearance in the upcoming The Flash movie if a persistent rumor too sensational to take at face value can be believed.

In a turn to that worm stirred by insider scoops, a purported but fresh leak from The Flash’s last test screening, obtained by Giant Freakin Robot, seems to confirm Cage is in the film, as the leaker asserts that Barry Allen sees Cage’s Superman fighting a giant mechanical spider briefly when he travels through the Speed Force.
Anybody familiar with the history behind the production of the Burton/Cage collaboration alluded to, Superman Lives, will understand the significance of the giant mechanical spider. When Kevin Smith was attached, the spider was suggested by producer Jon Peters as something the Man of Steel would fight and became a legendary punchline before memes were common.

The rumor that Cage manages to pop up in the cape after 25 years has been gaining steam for some time. While The Flash was in production, we heard rumblings that Warner Bros. was pondering the possibility. Cage added fuel to the fire last year when he had an unexpected response to a question during a GQ Q&A.
“Would it matter how much time I appeared as the character? There might still be a chance,” he replied to the hope Superman Lives – or aspects of it – could be made today. Anything is possible now with CGI and speaking of that, plus adding fuel to a flame, other scoopers say Cage isn’t the only cameo to watch out for.

Noted source Syl Abdul hears Christopher Reeve, the benchmark for Superman actors, might also be glimpsed in The Speed Force through some CG chicanery. “You see a version of [Reeve’s] Superman,” if only for a brief moment, Abdul says in an upload, based on what people who saw the film tell him. And there’s more.
Lynda Carter could very well be seen in her Wonder Woman getup but they might throw an extra bone of nostalgia with an appearance by Helen Slater’s Supergirl. Abdul says a version of The Flash he’s heard about contains these two cameos in addition to the George Clooney cameo he reported weeks ago and stands by.

Abdul adds that it seems Warner Bros. wants The Flash to be “a celebration of DC” and is selling the film more like a brand as opposed to a continuation of Ezra Miller’s time in the DCEU. However, the studio busily downplayed the connection to that continuity and cut a cameo by Henry Cavill that was already filmed.
Abdul’s fellow tea-spiller Grace Randolph also claimed Cavill was all set to be in The Flash at one point, and she added more details to her coverage. Randolph tweeted recently, “There’s a #Batman AND a #Superman cameo at the end of #TheFlash.” She didn’t offer much else except both are fun “retro” member berries and Cavill is still out.
So apparently, there’s a #Batman AND a #Superman cameo at the end of #TheFlash
They are both “retro” and most likely just for fun – big name actors tho (NOT Cavill)
We’ll see if the second cameo leaks when the movie plays at #CinemaCon on Tuesday #DC pic.twitter.com/pQXk33avwK
