Barr Rips Gilbert
While being interviewed by Megyn Kelly on SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Barr let loose on Gilbert, who played her daughter on “Roseanne” for years before the show was controversially cancelled in 2018.
“It was her tweet that canceled the show,” Barr said of Gilbert. “And then she tweeted ‘It’s sad when one cast member,’ something about racist, blah, blah. And I was floored. I was just floored. And you know, but she ends up owning my work and Tom Werner becomes her partner in owning my work.”
Entertainment Weekly reported that “Roseanne” originally ran from 1988 to 1997, and it was so iconic that ABC decided to bring it back in 2018. Though the reboot was also a success, it was cancelled months later after Barr posted a tweet about Barack Obama’s former advisor Valerie Jarrett that many felt was racist in nature.

Gilbert wasted no time in separating both herself and the show from Barr.
“Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show,” she tweeted at the time. “I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.”

Barr Confronts Gilbert
Barr told Kelly that she ended up calling Gilbert afterwards to tell her to stop accusing her of racism on her CBS talk show “The Talk.”
“It wasn’t enough that she stabbed me in the back, and did what she did to me there, but then she would go on her talk show every day and talk about how shocked she was at my racism on top of it,” Barr said.
“I called her up and I said, ‘You better shut your blanking mouth about me. I’m telling you, you better shut your effing mouth,'” she continued. “And then she did, but, you know, my voice can be very scary.”
Barr claimed that Gilbert had “begged” her to return for the reboot, and that she’d told her, “‘I’ve got your back this time. I won’t let anyone at you. I won’t let anyone hurt you. I’m gonna protect you.'”
“All the crap she told me and then she tweeted, ‘It’s sad when one cast member…’ something about racist blah blah, and I was floored. I was just floored,” Barr lamented.

Barr Slams ABC For Killing Her Character Off
ABC ended up bringing “Roseanne” back as a new show “The Conners,” with all the cast members from the reboot except for Barr. The show explained the absence of Barr’s character by killing her off, something that still bothers her to this day.
“And you know, they just tried to kill me and I felt like they killed my character and my character, but I thought they were sending a message over the airwaves because they knew I had mental health issues,” Barr lamented. “I thought they wanted me to kill myself. And all my friends did too. They said, they’re trying to push you to suicide.”

While Barr’s tweet about Jarrett was wrong, she immediately apologized and took responsibility for it, so she did not deserve to be permanently cancelled. Gilbert would never be where she is today without Barr and her original show, so she might want to consider giving her former TV mom an apology.
Knowing what a shameless liberal that Gilbert is, however, it’s unlikely that this will ever happen.
