The country music star Miranda Lambert has been married to her second husband Brendan McLoughlin, a retired police officer with the NYPD, since 2019. In a new interview, Lambert is crediting one special recipe with winning him over prior to them tying the knot.

‘Bev’s Famous Meatloaf’

“I think the first big meal I made for him was mom’s famous meatloaf,” Lambert, 39, told Fox News. “That’s the one everyone brings a man home to mom for or calls and asks how to make when things are getting serious.”

“We joke that it’s the meal that gets the ring, and it’s worked for many of us,” she added.

This recipe, which is known as “Bev’s Famous Meatloaf,” is one of many recipes in her new cookbook “Ya’ll Eat Yet: Welcome to the Pretty B*tchin’ Kitchen.” This is no normal cookbook, as on top of recipes, it also features reflections from Lambert’s life.

“This book is permission to be imperfect. It’s a reminder to slow down and spend quality time with the people in your life and to really cherish the memories you make with them,” Lambert explained. “These recipes are all really approachable because it should be more about the time you spend around the table together and less about spending hours and hours in the kitchen to make a picture-perfect meal.”

One of the stories detailed in the book that isn’t related to cooking is an account of Lambert’s “Trashy-Ho” bridal shower.

“That party was the perfect summary of what this whole book is about,” she said. “Forget the Pinterest-perfect decorations and having to feel all buttoned-up for a formal party . … Embrace a theme, go over the top and focus on having a great time with the important people in your life.”

Lambert Finds Happiness After Divorce

Lambert was previously married to her fellow country music star Blake Shelton from 2011 until they divorced in 2015. While Lambert has been open about how difficult this split was for her, she’s also said that she’s at a better place in life now.

“Finding happiness and being at peace with yourself, it’s a long journey, but I’ve really gotten to a great place,” Lambert told People Magazine last year. “My manager’s been good about asking me to ‘sit in my life.’ Country music is a huge part of my life, but it’s not fully who I am.”

“When I turned 30, I started to take life in a new direction and really start to understand myself a little better. And going through hard things obviously makes you get to know yourself better,” she continued. “When you get broken down pretty good, you look at the mirror and you go, ‘I have to spend some time with me, learn who I am and what I want.’ I got to a really good place with myself. Then I met my husband.”

Lambert Meets McLoughlin

Lambert met McLoughlin when she was doing an appearance on “Good Morning America,” where he was doing security on set as an NYPD officer. Her mother Beverly June Lambert has seen firsthand just how happy her daughter has been since meeting him.

“One look at her tells that story,” Beverly said. “She is comfortable and confident, and it shows. Brendan is a good example of a partner. He walks beside her, not beneath or above her. Navigating a new marriage, a pandemic, touring, career changes, family health crises, etc. isn’t easy. But there they are just killin’ it.”

Thank goodness for “Bev’s Famous Meatloaf” for helping Lambert to nail McLoughlin down. They seem like a very happy couple, and we wish them both many years of joy to come!
