Blake Shelton is leaving “The Voice” after the current 23rd season, which is coming to an end tonight. Shelton has been a coach on the show ever since it premiered back in 2011, and while saying goodbye to it has been difficult to him, he’s speaking out to reveal what he’s excited about as he looks to life after “The Voice.”

Shelton Wants More Time With Family

As he prepares to leave “The Voice,” Shelton is looking forward to getting to spend more time with his wife Gwen Stefani and her three sons Kingston, 16, Zuma, 14, and Apollo, 9.

“I want to finally have the opportunity to say yes to more stuff in my personal life, and not say, ‘Let me check,’ or just flat-out no,” Shelton, 46, told Entertainment Tonight.

Shelton previously opened up about how becoming a stepdad changed his perspective on many things in life, including “The Voice.”

“I think being a stepdad has changed my perspective in that I’m not the first person that I think about anymore,” he told Access earlier this year. “Even to the small little things when you go, ‘I think I’ll do this,’ the very next thought is always,‘Well, wait a minute. How’s that going work?’ Or, ‘What will they think?’ Or, ‘How will that affect a schedule?'”

“I think the only way for me to really do that right is to step away from being committed to something like ‘The Voice’ that demands a lot of your time,” he continued. “There’s no way around it. If you’re going to do it and do it right, you have to be 150 percent in. And I just feel like those days are behind me for now. I got a more important job.”

Shelton’s Family Supports Him

Shelton’s wife and step-sons were all on hand to celebrate him earlier this month when he was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. While Shelton appreciated this, he was quick to joke that he’s ready to stop celebrating himself.

“I’ve had enough parties thrown for me in the last few weeks,” he admitted. “[Gwen] goes, ‘We’re just celebrating you, you’re good right?’ Yeah, I’m good. Please, no more parties for me.”

Stefani has fully supported her husband’s decision to leave “The Voice.”

“I think that Blake–I don’t know, I think he just wants more time, you know what I mean?” she told EXTRA last year. “I don’t know that people realize, if he’s doing two seasons a year, right? In between that, he’s touring. So he actually has two teams at the same time at a certain point, so they overlap.”

“So it’s a lot of brain power, it’s a lot of time away from the family, those kinds of things,” she added. “I think he just got to a point where he just wants time in his ranch, like time to just do the other things that he loves to do.”

Shelton ‘Excited’ About Finale

Going into tonight, Shelton feels like he has a shot at getting another win from one of his Team Blake singers, country singer Grace West and genre-defying crooner NOIVAS.

“I’m excited,” he said. “Both of these artists, I think either one of them could win the thing. Odds are on Grace because she’s a country artist and country artists do so well on this show — and she’s the only one left.”

“But NOIVAS, I think people hear him and see him as country also,” he added. “I told him, ‘You’re kind of the wild card.'”
