John Rich Joins Kid Rock’s Bud Light Boycott – Removes Bud Light From His Restaurant

Earlier this month, we reported that the singer Kid Rock had shot up cases of Bud Light in a viral video as his response to the beer company teaming up with the transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney for a new campaign. Now, the country music star John Rich has joined Kid Rock by removing Bud Light from his restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee.

Rich Boycotts Bud Light

When Billboard visited Rich’s restaurant Redneck Riviera Bar & BBQ last week, a restaurant staffer could be seen covering the blue Bud Light cans that were part of an American “beer can flag.” The blue coverings included white stars that hid the brand’s logo.

A bartender later confirmed that while the restaurant is no longer actively selling or promoting Bud Light to customers, they will sell Bud Light if asked to do so with the product they have left in stock. A representative for Redneck Riviera also said that Bud and Bud Light signs are being removed in the restaurant in response to low Bud Light sales, adding that Bud Light Draft will be replaced with Miller Lite draft.

‘The Customers Decide’

This comes days after Rich told Fox News that Bud Light sales at Redneck Riviera had plummeted in the wake of the Mulvaney campaign.

“I think the customers decide,” Rich explained. “Customers are king. I own a bar downtown in Nashville called Redneck Riviera and our No. 1 selling beer up until a few days ago was guess what — Bud Light. That was the No. 1 beer.”

“We’ve got cases and cases and cases of it sitting back there but in the past several days, you are hard pressed to find someone ordering one, so as the business-owner, I just go, ‘Hey, if you guys aren’t going to order it, we’ve got to put something else in here,'” he continued. “At the end of the day, that’s capitalism.”

Kid Rock has also removed Bud Light and Budweiser from the menu at his restaurant Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock n’ Roll Steakhouse in Nashville, and the country music star Travis Tritt has joined the Bud Light boycott as well.

“I will be deleting all Anheuser-Busch products from my tour hospitality rider,” Tritt tweeted. “I know many other artists who are doing the same.”

Anheuser-Busch Responds

Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth responded to the backlash in a statement that was released on Friday.

“We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people,” Whitworth said. “We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer.”

“My time serving this country taught me the importance of accountability and the values upon which America was founded: freedom, hard work and respect for one another,” he continued. “As CEO of Anheuser-Busch, I am focused on building and protecting our remarkable history and heritage.”

Whitworth went on to say that Anheuser-Busch has “thousands of partners, millions of fans and a proud history supporting our communities, military, first responders, sports fans and hard-working Americans everywhere.”

Bud Light is currently learning the hard way that when you go woke, you end up going broke. God bless Kid Rock, Rich, and Tritt for voicing the frustrations of millions of Americans by boycotting this brand!

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
