The former President Donald Trump is firing back at Oprah Winfrey as she attempts to backtrack from a letter that she wrote to him years ago. The letter is about to be released in a book full of private letters that were written to Trump by various politicians, world leaders, and celebrities, including Oprah.

Oprah Praises Trump In Letter
“Too bad we’re not running for office,” Oprah wrote in her letter back in 2000, according to Axios . “What a TEAM!”
After seeing that Oprah said on Tuesday morning that she is “not thinking that today,” Trump fired back on Truth Social by writing, “neither am I!

Oprah Tries To Backtrack From Letter
This came after Oprah tried to distance herself from the letter while being interviewed by CBS News on Tuesday morning.
“I think he’d written a book and said that he wanted me to be his running mate … if he decided to run,” Winfrey said.
“And when I heard that this letter is now going to be a part of a book, I thought, ‘Oh, wasn’t that nice of me to write a note.’ That’s what I thought, because I’m always like, ‘Oh, I should write a note. The person did this, or I should write a note,'” she added. “So I’m really happy that I wrote a note.”
Like the good liberal elitist that she’s become, Oprah went on to say that she would not think that she and Trump would make a good team politically if they ran today.
“I might have thought it back then. I might have thought it 23 years ago,” she said. “I’m not thinking it today.”

Jay Leno Sounds Off
This comes after comedian Jay Leno tried to get out of appearing in the book by claiming that he’d never gave Trump permission to use his letter .
“Jay did not release, nor authorize any use of any letter to Mr. Trump,” a representative for Leno told Newsweek . This rep went on to allege that Leno is not aware of which letter from him will be included in the book.
Trump, however, has since hit back at Leno on Truth Social as well, writing, “Jay, you did when you sent it!”
The publisher behind “Letters For Trump” has also responded by saying that there was “actual or implied” permission from the letter senders to have what they wrote potentially be published someday since they are private individuals.
Trump and Leno appear to have had been friends for years, with the comedian even speaking on Trump’s behalf when he got a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in January of 2007. Trump was also a guest on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on many occasions between 1997 and 2010.
While Leno has stayed relatively quiet about his political leanings, Oprah has made it clear in the past that she is a woke member of the radically liberal elite. Oprah can kick and scream all she wants to, but it doesn’t look like it’ll do much to get her letter out of Trump’s book!
