Marvel Star Elizabeth Olsen Says “There’s A Lot More Humor To Be Had” With The Scarlet Witch, Hopes She Finds “Some Redemption”
Elizabeth Olsen entertains the idea of playing a light-hearted Scarlet Witch in the MCU if Disney decides to bring the character back.
There is no denying that the character of Scarlet Witch took a dark turn during the Disney+ series WandaVision — eventually making the transition into full-fledged villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
After the character’s supposed death during the climax of the film, Marvel star Elizabeth Olsen has expressed the desire to see her character finding some sort of redemption in a potential return.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Olsen confirmed that she didn’t know whether Marvel was toying with the idea of bringing her character back, but she has some ideas about what to do with Wanda were that to be the case.
“We can do anything with her now!” Olsen told the outlet. “I feel like we’ve done so much. Now, we can really have fun; I feel like there’s a lot more humor to be had with her.”
Just what the MCU needs, more humor.

“She’s often the emotion of a story, and I’m curious to see what we can explore. And hopefully [we can] give her some redemption,” the Marvel star concluded.
For those who haven’t been following the MCU too closely over the last couple of years, Scarlet Witch has been portrayed as a violent sociopath; torturing and killing anyone in her path for completely selfish reasons.
In WandaVision the former Avenger enslaved an entire town in New Jersey — forcing its inhabitants to live a fictitious life in a desperate attempt to cope with the loss of Vision.
Wanda’s appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness did no favors to her image either. The film shows her murdering dozens of innocent people because of her obsession with taking over a universe wherein the children she had conjured in WandaVision actually exist.

Rather than taking accountability, she unashamedly blames Doctor Strange and others around her in order to justify her selfish actions. Yet, Olsen believes that the character deserves a more comedic tone in a potential return.
Let’s remember that Wanda was responsible for killing legions of sorcerers at Kamar-Taj, terrorized an alternate universe version of herself and her kids, and brutally murdered every member of the Illuminati when they got in her path.
With the MCU currently in its “Multiverse Saga,” the idea of a different version of the Scarlet Witch is being entertained. Many speculate that the fallen Avenger could possible make an appearance in the mutant-led Deadpool 3.
At the premier of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness last year, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told Variety that he hopes to be able to work with Elizabeth Olsen in the future, noting that there is still “so much more to explore” with the character of Wanda.
“I’d work with Lizzie for another 100 years if we could,” Feige admitted. “Anything’s possible in the multiverse! We’ll have to see.”
