Jane Fonda Slams Jennifer Lopez – Claims She ‘Never Apologized’ For Slapping Her

The Hollywood star and radical liberal activist Jane Fonda spoke out against Jennifer Lopez last week for an incident that allegedly happened nearly twenty years ago.

Fonda Rips Lopez

People Magazine reported that Fonda and Lopez starred together in the 2005 movie Monster-in-Law, which featured an iconic scene that saw them slapping each other. When asked about this scene in an interview last week, however, Fonda made it clear that she is still holding a grudge against Lopez for what she claims happened during filming.

“The thing that comes to mind right away is we have a slapping scene. I slap her, she slaps me. … Well Jennifer — as per Jennifer — she had this enormous diamond ring,” said Fonda, 85. “And so, when she slapped me one of the times, it cut open across my eye, my eyebrow.”

“She’s never apologized,” the woman who was nicknamed Hanoi Jane during the Vietnam War added.

Lopez’s Version Of Events

Lopez, 53, remembered the scene differently when she reacted to it in a video posted to her YouTube channel back in 2019. In this video, Lopez described the scene as being “one of the most fun scenes I’ve ever done.”

“She really really went for it, and so did I, and then I punched her in the eye by mistake — right there — ouch,” Lopez said. “We talked about how we were going to do this over and over again. I was so afraid to hit Jane Fonda in the face or hurt her in any way. She was so brazen and [said] like, ‘Just hit me, don’t worry about it.'”

Lopez recalled saying “I don’t want to hurt you,” and then “the next thing you know [Fonda] really went for it on one of those slaps.”

“The scene took on a life of its own,” she added. “I just remember afterwards, Jane had a blood blister right at the top of her eye. My nail like went up into her eye. . . . I was like, ‘Oh my God! I’m so sorry!’ and she was like, ‘It’s fine, it’s fine.'”

Lopez went on to claim that Fonda “didn’t care” about the blood blister because “she is such a gangster b—-.”

Fonda’s Acting Comeback

Monster-In-Law was a huge movie for Fonda, as it marked her return to acting following a 15 year hiatus during her marriage and subsequent divorce from the CNN founder Ted Turner.

“If I feel bad about myself, it’s hard for me to be creative. So I just left for 15 years,” Fonda recalled in 2015, according to The New York Post. “I said to myself, ‘I think I can find joy in acting again,’ and so I came back with the film Monster-in-Law, which was the only smart career thing I ever did.”

“I thought, ‘People are going to come to the movie to see J.Lo, Jennifer Lopez, but they’ll rediscover Fonda,’ and that’s what happened,” she continued.

Fonda and Lopez clearly have very different memories of what filming Monster-in-Law was actually like. Given Fonda’s history as a less than trustworthy person, however, we might want to go with believing Lopez’s version of events on this one.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
