Decades after becoming a household name as a teenager on the sitcom “Family Ties,” Justine Bateman is firing back at haters who have criticized her for having an “old face” at 57 years of age.

Bateman Sounds Off

Daily Mail reported that in a new interview, Bateman explained that she didn’t know that there was an online obsession with the wrinkles on her face until she googled herself one day.

“I googled my name Justine Bateman, and an autocomplete came up which said ‘looks old,’ and I was like, ‘What!'” she recalled. “And I was only 42 at the time … and I was like, ‘What?’ And I looked at the pictures that they had as evidence and I couldn’t see what they were talking about.”

When asked if it’s possible for people to find aging “beautiful,” Bateman replied, “I just don’t give a s**t. I think I look rad, I think my face represents who I am. I like it.”

As for people who use Botox treatments to look younger, Bateman said, “I feel sad for them. I feel sad that they’re not just enjoying life.”

“I feel sad that they are distracted from the things they’re meant to do in life, with this consuming idea that they’ve got to fix their face before anything else can happen,” she continued.

Bateman’s Message To Other Women

Bateman went on to call on women to stop worrying so much about aging.

“Forget about your face! That is what I’m saying,” she said. “Get rid of the fear that your face being wrinkled is going to ruin a bunch of opportunities for you.”

Despite this, Bateman admitted that there are times when she looks in the mirror and wonders what she’d look like with plastic surgery.

“You can certainly look in the mirror and go ‘Oh, if I just had like a lower facelift I would get rid of this skin that catches the light, and then I could have that operation where you go into the eyelid, or you know take some of the skin out and this that’s hanging over now, over the eyelid, you can get that removed,'” she said.

“Sure, you can do all of that, but even with that I would just… I feel like I would erase not only all my authority that I have now, but also I like feeling that I’m a different person now than I was when I was 20,” Bateman concluded. “I like looking in the mirror and seeing that evidence.”

Bateman’s Book On Aging

The New York Post reported that Bateman talks more about aging in her most recent book “Face: One Square Foot of Skin,” which is comprised of stories from 47 women about aging and society’s obsession with staying young.

“I’m like, ‘Fuck it, I don’t care, I like how it looks!’” she told Glamour of her face while promoting the book in 2021. “Some people even say, ‘If she would just change her makeup, she’d look a lot prettier,’ but I don’t care. It’s cool-looking, so I’m going to keep doing it.”

Aging is something that we’re all dealing with in some way every day. God bless Bateman for serving as an example to other women that aging naturally is actually a good thing!
