Caleb Plant

Overcoming adversity is nothing new to Caleb Plant.

Plant will take on David Benavidez this Saturday night live on Showtime PPV from Las Vegas. The bout will be for the interim WBC super middleweight title.

Throughout his fighting career, Plant has overcome every opponent but one: Canelo Alvarez. He dropped his IBF super middleweight during that 2021 fight, but rebounded with a knockout of Anthony Dirrell last October.

That is Plant. He is a fighter at heart and always has been.

In 2015, Plant and his now-wife, Jordan, had to overcome the loss of their infant daughter due to a medical condition. Four years later, his mother was shot by police during an incident.

“I’ve been here before. I’ve been in big fights before,” he said. “I know what this is all about and I know what it takes. Me and my team are fully prepared to get my hand raised on Saturday night.

“I’m getting back to my old ways and the way my dad wants me to box. With ‘Breadman’ being here and echoing that and them going off each other, we’ve just got great chemistry.”

Each time, though, Plant has focused himself on being an elite boxer and survived.

Now, he steps into the ring with Benavidez, who is equally as talented and just as hungry.

Benavidez has never lost in 26 fights, winning the vacant WBC interim super middleweight title back in May with a finish of David Lemieux.

“Getting my hand raised is all the motivation I need,” Plant said. “It’s super motivating to have my family here with me. I’m gonna show that if you come up short or things don’t go your way, you gotta keep chasing and fighting for your dreams.”
