The country music star Blake Shelton is leaving “The Voice” after the current 23rd season, and in a new interview, he’s speaking out to reveal what he’ll miss most about the NBC reality show that he’s been a coach on ever since it premiered back in 2011.

What Shelton Will Miss The Most About ‘The Voice’

Last week, Shelton was interviewed by “The Voice” host Carson Daly’s son Jackson for “Nightly News: Kids Edition,” and the singer used their discussion to open up about his favorite part of being a coach on the reality show, which is also what he’ll miss the most when he leaves it.

“Artists like me who have been doing this for a million years, there’s just never really been a path to pass along all the stuff I learned over the years to younger people,” Shelton said. “And now to be able to pass along some things that I’ve learned along the way — especially mistakes I’ve made along the way.”

“So that’s probably been my favorite part about being a coach on here and the reason I would say come try out, you know, give it a shot,” he continued.

Shelton’s Advice For Younger Artists

Shelton was also asked what advice he gives to younger artists trying to break into the music world.

“I say, ‘Come on!'” he stated. “Because, you know, the chances of making it on this show are slim, but there’s no way to audition for this show — and especially make it on the show — without learning a bunch of stuff. That’s what I love about it.”

Shelton then gave Jackson a tour of the studio where “The Voice” is filmed. While taking a look at the coaches’ chairs, Shelton made the bombshell revelation that each one has seat heaters.

“I never in all my time being on the show never have turned that on,” he admitted.

Shelton’s Reason For Leaving ‘The Voice’

Earlier this year, Shelton revealed that one of the main reasons he is leaving “The Voice” is that he wants to spend more time with his family. He is married to his wife Gwen Stefani, who he met on “The Voice,” and he is a stepdad to her three sons from her previous marriage to Gavin Rossdale.

“I think being a stepdad has changed my perspective in that I’m not the first person that I think about anymore,” he told Access back in January. “Even to the small little things when you go, ‘I think I’ll do this,’ the very next thought is always,‘Well, wait a minute. How’s that going work?’ Or, ‘What will they think?’ Or, ‘How will that affect a schedule?'”

“I think the only way for me to really do that right is to step away from being committed to something like ‘The Voice’ that demands a lot of your time,” Shelton continued. “There’s no way around it. If you’re going to do it and do it right, you have to be 150 percent in. And I just feel like those days are behind me for now. I got a more important job.”

While we will certainly miss Shelton’s presence on “The Voice,” we can’t argue with his reason for leaving. Be sure to check out how his final season unfolds when “The Voice” airs on Monday and Tuesday nights at 8pm on NBC!
