Alec Baldwin’s attempt to politicize the devastating school shooting that took place in Nashville, Tennessee earlier this week has blown up in his face as social media users have reminded him that he’s the last person who should be talking about gun violence after his fatal shooting on the set of Rust. 

Baldwin Gets Shut Down After Politicizing Nashville Shooting

Daily Mail reported that after Monday’s mass shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville claimed the lives of three children and three adults, Baldwin took to Instagram to share a woke post that was written by the rocker Peter Frampton.

“26 years ago, a gunman entered Dunblane Primary School in Scotland, killing 16 kids and a teacher. The UK govt responded by enacting tight gun control legislation,” the post read. “In the 9400+ days since, there have been a total of 0 school shootings in the UK.”

Unfortunately for Baldwin, however, social media users were quick to remind him that he accidentally fatally shot the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his movie Rust back in October of 2021. 

“You shot and killed someone with a prop gun you mismanaged, and dare advocate to remove an American right to protect oneself,” one social media user commented, with another adding, “It’s a mental health problem, not a gun problem! If Alec had any firearm training, that poor mother/wife would be alive today!”

“Didn’t you kill someone?” a third user wrote, with a fourth commenting, “Probably should sit this one out.”

“Kettle, pot,” added someone else, using a phrase that is typically put forth to call out hypocrisy.

Minutes after Baldwin’s post went up, he limited the number of comments on it.

Rust Shooting Development

Baldwin has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in New Mexico over the Rust shooting that claimed Hutchins’ life, and he’s facing up to 18 months if convicted, according to The New York Post. Earlier this week, the Santa Fe district attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, who is the person that charged Baldwin, stepped down from the case. 

“My responsibility to the people of the First Judicial District is greater than any one case, which is why I have chosen to appoint a special prosecutor in the ‘Rust’ case,” Carmack-Altwies said, according to ABC News. “Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis will unflinchingly pursue justice in the death of Halyna Hutchins on behalf of the people of First Judicial District.”

A spokesperson for the district attorney’s office added that Carmack-Altwies will step aside from prosecuting the case, “allowing her to focus on the broader public safety needs in New Mexico’s First Judicial District.”

Nashville Shooting

The Nashville shooter has been identified as Audrey Hale, a 28 year-old transgender woman who previously attended the Covenant School as a child. The child victims have been identified as Hallie Scruggs, William Kenney, and Evelyn Dieckhaus, all nine, while the adult victims were the school’s headmistress Dr. Katherine Koonce, 60, substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61, and school custodian Mike Hill, 61.

Baldwin is one of the most outspoken liberal voices in Hollywood, so it comes as no surprise that he wasted no time in trying to use this tragedy to fuel the left’s gun-grabbing agenda. We’re glad to see that social media users didn’t let him get away with it, and hopefully he thinks twice before he tries to comment on a shooting again publicly, given his own history with guns.
