Meghan McCain spoke out on Thursday to slam her former “The View” co-host Joy Behar for seemingly blaming Ohio residents for the train derailment.

McCain Slams Behar

Fox News reported that after the derailment of a train in East Palestine, Ohio and the subsequent burn of toxic chemicals in the area, Behar appeared to try to blame the victims for being supporters of Donald Trump.

“I don’t know why they would ever vote for him, somebody who, by the way, he placed someone with deep ties to the chemical industry in charge of the EPA’s chemical safety office,” she said. “That’s who you voted for in that district — Donald Trump, who reduces all safety.”

McCain fired back on Twitter, writing, “The people of east Palestine are currently in fear that they and their children will be getting cancer or worse from the derailment toxins in their land and water.”

“This is just an evil thing to say,” she continued. “I would say I can’t fathom this level of cruelty and elitism but sadly… I can.”

McCain Left ‘The View’ Because Of Behar

McCain was the token conservative on “The View” from 2017 until she left the program in 2021. While appearing on The Commentary Magazine Podcast” last year, McCain revealed that it was a rude comment that Behar made to her when she returned from maternity leave following the birth of her first child that made her leave the show.

“I finally went back to the show, and the day I went back to the show, Joy Behar said on air, ‘Nobody missed you, we didn’t miss you, you shouldn’t have come back,’” recalled McCain. “And I just … I started hysterically crying. Sorry gentlemen, I know, I started lactating on air, and I started crying.”

McCain went on to say that after Behar’s remark, she ran back to her office and threw up before calling her brother, who advised her that it was time to leave “The View.”

“I didn’t feel supported when I had my baby, and I didn’t feel supported coming back, and that was ultimately it,” she continued. “That was why I left!”

Behar Has ‘No Plans’ To Retire

Behar was one of the original co-hosts of “The View” when it premiered back in 1997, and though she was fired from the talk show in 2013, she was brought back in 2015 and has been on the program ever since. Despite turning 80 last October, Behar has said that she has “no plans” to retire.

“I just signed a contract so I’ll be here for a while,” Behar told People Magazine in October. “I have no plans to retire.”

“It’s really, you know, something that is an important show in many ways,” she went on to say of the ABC talk show. “Sometimes I don’t believe that, as I’ve been here since the beginning, but we’re the most-watched show in daytime. Most-watched! I’m happy to be a part of it. So no, I’m not going anywhere. I’m having a good time.”

McCain appears to be enjoying life after leaving “The View,” as she’s since had a second daughter with her husband Ben Domenech. We applaud her for defending the people of Ohio from Behar’s inexcusable attack!
