Promoter Jorge Masvidal is pulling out all the stops for his next boxing event.
While Masvidal prepares for his own return to the UFC’s Octagon, he is also working on Gamebred Boxing 4. The event takes place April 1 from the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
In the main event, Anthony Pettis will take on former boxing world champion Roy Jones. Jr. Pettis claimed the UFC and WEC titles, and now competes for the PFL.
Jones won boxing titles in four weight classes and is considered by many to be one of the best of his generation.
“I’ve always been a fan of Roy Jones,” Masvidal said on The MMA Hour (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “Always wanted to work with Roy Jones in some capacity. He’s going to be fighting someone that inspired me in my career numerous times. WEC champion, UFC champion, I think both his wins for the UFC title were finishes. This guy has knockouts and finishes at 145, 155, 170, it’s crazy what this guy has done in his career in MMA. Great striker.
The pay-per-view card will also feature Jose Aldo, Vitor Belfort, Paul Daley, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Jeremy Stephens and Pearl Gonzalez.
Belfort and Souza will square off, along with Aldo and Stephens, Gonzalez is set to meet Gina Mazany, while Daley battles Anthony Taylor.
