TMZ Sports confirmed that Barnes submitted an application for a temporary civil restraining order on Tuesday following the altercation. The cause according to the request is that Patterson Jr. was the aggressor.
The documents state that Patterson Jr. “hunted” Barnes down intentionally and “aggressively confronted me.” Barnes also noted that Patterson Jr. also “yelled profanities and threats at him, called him names, and incited the crowd around them.”
Barnes also stated that Patterson Jr., after inciting the crowd to circle around them and yell out his name, “shoved me, and I was forced to push him off of me. I did not want the altercation to physically escalate further, and out of frustration with him seeking me out and his unrelenting repeated harassment I spit in his direction in disgust.”

On Thursday, Babcock reported that a L.A. judge “has granted Matt Barnes a temporary restraining order against his fiancé’s ex… Patterson must stay at least 100 yards from Barnes. Runs through at least February 16” when a civil hearing will take place to determine whether the order will be extended by the court.
Apparently, this isn’t the first situation between Barnes and Patterson Jr., for months the ex has allegedly been harassing the former basketball player out of jealously due to him being romantically involved with his ex-wife. Barnes even claims that Patterson Jr. even threatened to kill him in the past.
