The NFL legend Tom Brady is the father of three children who are all being raised in a world of wealth and privilege, but that doesn’t mean that he wants life to be easy for them.

On the latest episode of his “Let’s Go!” podcast, Brady revealed why he thinks it is important that his kids “fail” during their lives.

Brady Wants His Children To Fail

“I don’t want it to go right for my kids all the time,” said Brady, 45. “I told them that this morning. I said, ‘I want you guys to fail because I want to see what you’re made of if you fail and when you fail.’”

“Life isn’t going to be just a smooth ride,” he continued. “So we’ve got to develop resiliency.”

Page Six reported that Brady and his ex-wife, the supermodel Gisele Bündchen, are parents to Benjamin, 13, and Vivian, 10. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback is also father to 15 year-old Jack, who he shares with the actress Bridget Moynahan of “Blue Bloods” fame.

“In life, you try a lot of things, and you fail. It’s part of life,” Brady explained. “We try things, we really push ourselves to try … something new, and it doesn’t go the way we want.”

“So what do you do? Do you care less? Do you care more?” he added. “Or do you take that experience for what it was and you try to learn from it and grow from it and find the resilience we all want to teach our children?”

Brady On Failure And Life Philosophy

Brady went on to reveal if he believes his children are already afraid of failure.

“I think naturally it’s probably hard for everybody in our society to feel like you can fail or you can say the wrong thing,” he said. “There are heavy repercussions to even admitting you fail.”

Brady also expressed his belief that life isn’t about winning or losing, and is instead about relationships.

“Life is a people business,”  he continued. “My life is very rich because of the amazing people I’ve had in my life that have supported me to help me achieve my dreams in so many ways over and over and over again. Now I have these great children to learn from and try to just be a good parent and be present for them and be a good example and role model.”

In the end, Brady just wants his children to do the best that they can in life, and he’ll be there to support them every step of the way.

“I don’t care whether you win or lose,” he concluded. “Just do your best and you’ll be proud. We’re all cool with that if you did your best.”

Difficult Time For Brady

This comes at a difficult time for Brady, as he and Bündchen finalized their divorce back in October after thirteen years of marriage. It’s been alleged that Brady’s decision to un-retire last year and play another season with the Buccaneers played a huge role in their marriage coming to an end.

“There’s been trouble in the marriage over his decision to un-retire,” a source claimed. “Gisele has always been the one with the kids. They had agreed he would retire to focus on the family, then he changed his mind.”

This also comes one week after Brady’s season with the Buccaneers ended in disappointment when they were knocked out in the wildcard round of the playoffs by the Dallas Cowboys. It is unknown at this time if Brady will decide to throw in the towel and retire for good, or to play another season in the NFL.

Whether you’re a fan of Brady’s or not, it can’t be denied that he seems to be a devoted father who has put a lot of thought into the way he raises his kids. They’re lucky to have him in their lives!
