Twitter user “Purple Tinker” started the outcry by highlighting tweets made by Kara Lynne. “The community manager for @LimitedRunGames, @/KaraLynne0326, is a transphobe who follows a veritable who’s who of right-wing transphobic creeps,” Tinker insisted, herself trans.

“Unless and until she is fired from the company permanently, I am not giving them another single dime. (CW: Transphobia).”

Across multiple screenshots, including one showing she had cancelled over $1,200 in pre-orders, Tinker highlighted Lynne’s tweet regarding transgender people. Using Wayback Machine, the archived tweets included Lynne stating in 2016, “If you think the # of trans crying about using a bathroom is higher than the perves using the excuse, you are what is wrong with this world.”

A 2019 conversation was also highlighted. Lynne is seemingly discussing Niall Boylan’s interview with Jessica Yavin (a transgender person who drew outcry after being refused waxing treatment). Talking with @adela_lilith about it, the latter admitted they initially had a knee-jerk reaction, and realized some of the fault may have been on Yavin.

“That’s true,” @adela_lilith admitted that there are things men and women can’t say to one another. “It is problematic. I just worry that it will feed into the ‘all transwomen are predatory men’ narrative. Though this seems to be a case where Jessica is definitely not as innocent as she makes herself out to be.”

“I truly believe that not all trans women have that intention,” Lynne explained, “but the sad thing is that in this age of media people will take advantage of what they can to obtain what they want while still looking like the victim.”

Initially, Tinker seemed to focus on who Lynne followed on Twitter — all individuals who either had a history of being critical to transgender matters (such as the age a child is taught about it, or having a sex change), to those who may have just made such comments once.

These include Twitter user Libs of TikTok, political commentators Blaire White, Ian Miles Cheong, Glenn Beck, YouTuber Arielle Scarcella, and actress Gina Carano.

While Tinker only focused on that, it seems Lynne caught attention. Wayback Machine show her tweets had been archived over 10,000 times — though it should be noted this includes duplicates.

Over eight hours after Tinker’s initial tweet, Limited Run Games revealed they had fired Lynne. “LRG respects all personal opinions, however we remain committed to supporting an inclusive culture. Upon investigating a situation, an employee was terminated. Our goal as a company is to continue to foster a positive and safe environment for everyone.”

Thus far, it appears the actions of Limited Run Games have only generated more outcry. Recent tweets by the company have had replies disabled, with the last tweet with comments on January 7th filled with users declaring they would boycott the company.

In turn, Purple Tinker has had more scrutiny put on her. In addition to being mocked as the founder of BronyCon along with their general appearance, other individuals online dug into her history of harassing, manipulating, and bullying both people and organizations, which including “pressuring” a trans person to “out” themselves.

Tinker admitted to and apologized for being “perhaps this fandom’s worst internet bully” in June 2018, though excluding “trolls and bigots.”

One particularly damning accusation that has been thrown around is a series of tweets where Tinker seems to advocate for teenage sex with adults. It is worth noting that all of the tweets shared by TheSerratedBlade are still in Purple Tinker’s Twitter, and the thread has been archived for posterity.

“Teenagers aren’t f—king babies. The line between ‘child’ and ‘adult’ is VERY BLURRY. Teens deserve respect.”

Tinker continues, “Part of respect is SELF-determination. Not some holy adult saying ‘THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT even if you disagree’.” The condemning tweet came next with “The existence of the term ‘statutory rape’ denies personhood and self-determination to a whole class of PEOPLE.”

Tinker then discussed a hypothetical scenario where a 14 year-old student having sex with a 28 year old teacher. “The 14-year-old might disagree [that it’s rape], and might go to his grave disagreeing. HIS opinion is the only one that matters,” Tinker argued.

“‘If [x] has sex with you, it is always rape, even if YOU disagree’ is a supremely insulting position to take. It insulted me at 14, it insults me now. _I_ am the only one who can tell you if _I_ was raped. Not you.” If genuine, this may mean Tinker is confessing to having suffered sexual abuse at that age.

As these tweets came to light, Tinker didn’t deny their validity. Instead, she doubled down on her argument. “There is a difference between a child and a teen. You are too stupid to know that.”

When denied again, Tinker replied “It’s not a child, teenagers are able to make their own decisions on how to live their lives. We don’t need transphobic people and right wing fascist, trying to say otherwise.”

Tinker later denied the claims of supporting grooming and pedophillia in their statement — otherwise insisting Limited Run Games did the right thing, and that they had received abuse because of what they did.

Along with denouncing the claims as coming from “hard-right extremists [who] are dragging out the tired old cliché of all LGBTQ+ people being pedophiles and groomers,” Tinker notes how she acted as a whistleblower, objecting to an alleged pedophile being hired to work at BronyCon, and had established a scholarship fund for their prior victims.
