Dolly Parton is one of the most legendary country music stars of all time, so it only makes sense to think that a biopic will one day be made about her life. In a new interview, the 77 year-old Parton gave some thoughts on what an actress would need to play her.

Parton On Who Would Play Her In Biopic

During an interview with CBS News, Parton was asked about a script about her life that has been “floating around” Hollywood over the past year.

“Well I don’t know. I think when it gets to that point we’ll be auditioning a lot of different people,” she replied. “And we’ll just have to see.”

Parton was then asked about who she’d want to play her in her biopic.

“Well, she would need to have my spirit, I would think,” Parton said. “She’d have to have a lot of that fire and spunk. And she’d have to have some boobs, of course. Whether they were homemade or whether they were real.”

“She’d have to look the part,” the “Jolene” singer added. “She’d have to be a little over-exaggerated … That would be pretty easy, even a boy could do that.”

Parton’s Previous Biopic Comments

Fox News reported that Parton further opened up about this potential biopic in February of last year.

“I’ve been…talking about doing my Broadway musical, and we were really, really way out ahead, and then the Covid hit,” she said at the time. “That changed my mind about a whole lot of things.”

“I do intend someday to be on Broadway, but I’m thinking now that I might do my life story as a feature,” she continued. “Maybe possibly even a musical feature….So we’re in talks about that.”

Parton has also said that because of the many successes she has had through the years, she feels that she needs three different actresses to play her at different stages of her life in the movie.

“We’d probably have to have — as long as my career has been — like, a little Dolly and a middle Dolly and then the older one,” she said in 2021, according to The New York Post

One year before that, Parton expressed her hopes that the Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth would play her onscreen.

“She’s just absolutely fantastic,” Parton told Marie Claire at the time.

Parton’s New Song

Despite just turning 77 last week, Parton is still as busy as ever. On Friday, she debuted the music video for her new song “Gonna Be You,” which is featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming movie 80 For Brady. The movie stars Parton’s former 9 To 5 co-stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, along with Rita Moreno, Sally Field, and Tom Brady.

“I’m so excited to be a part of 80 for Brady and the Diane Warren title song for it,” Parton said, according to CNN. “Working with Jane, Lily, and Sally Field again, my older pals that are in the movie, and then working with all the wonderful artists on the song and video, like Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Debbie Harry was a joy.”

“This is very exciting to me,” she added. “I love feeling like I’m still part of something great and being with those gals that we know are great was a thrill.”

Parton is a true legend, and there will never be another one like her. We eagerly look forward to seeing a biopic about her life come to fruition in the future!
