Stephen Thompson battered and bruised his way to a victory Saturday night.

Thompson scored a win vs. Kevin Holland in the main event of UFC on ESPN from the Amway Center in Orlando after the corner for Holland called a stop to the bout following the third round.

Holland’s right-hand appeared to be seriously injured, which led to the decision by his team.

Thompson, a former UFC welterweight title challenger, earned his 17th career win in the process and tied the division record for knockouts with eight.

The co-main event saw Rafael dos Anjos lock up a second round submission victory. Dos Anjos, a former UFC champion, finished Bryan Barberena with a neck crank after nearly stopping him in the first.

Matheus Nicolau and Sergei Pavlovich each claimed finishes by knockout, with Roman Dolidze, Eryk Anders and Philip Rowe all doing the same to highlight the main card.

On the prelims, Emily Ducote went the distance with Angela Hill, but Hill pulled out the decision. Same for Clay Guida against Scott Holtzman, and Michael Johnson against Marc Diakiese.

Jonathan Pearce bested Darren Elkins while Natan Levy, Francis Marshall and Yazmin Jauregui were all winners.
