TJ Dillashaw, who rose quickly to the top before a crashing fall, has retired from mixed martial arts.
The former UFC champion made the decision after hist latest shoulder surgery.
According to MMA Fighting, Dillashaw confirmed to the promotion that he could no longer compete. He has been hit hard by injuries in recent years, having surgery on both shoulders while also serving a two-year suspension.
Dillashaw, a two-time bantamweight champion, lost to Aljamain Sterling for the title earlier this year at UFC 281.

After two wins, he won the belt back by knocking out Cody Garbrandt.
Dillashaw attempted to add the UFC flyweight title to his resume, but was bested by Henry Cejudo. He dropped the belt shortly after following a positive drug test.
