Ellen DeGeneres Breaks Down Over Her DJ tWitch’s Suicide – ‘We’ll Never Make Sense Of It

The world is still in shock over the suicide of Stephen “tWitch” Boss, the longtime DJ on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” who sadly took his own life earlier this month. Now, Ellen DeGeneres herself is speaking out about Boss’s suicide for the first time on camera in an emotional new video that she posted to social media.

DeGeneres Speaks Out

“The past 11 days have been really tough for everyone,” DeGeneres said in the video, which was filmed in her garden in Montecito, California, according to Daily Mail.

“Everyone is in pain and trying to make sense of it, and we’ll never make sense of it,” she continued. “The holidays are hard, I think, anyway, but to honor tWitch I think the best thing that we can do is to laugh, hug each other, play games and dance and sing. That’s the way we honor him, is we do the things that he loved to do, which is dancing.”

“He loved music, he loved games, so we do that,” the comedian added. “And I know it seems hard, it seems impossible, but that’s how we honor him.”

DeGeneres went on to call on her fans to “hug each other and tell each other we love each other and let people know we’re there for them and check in on people.”

“So, happy holidays everybody,” she said, “it’s not a happy holiday, but…”

“[Boss] was pure light, as everybody in the comments said,” DeGeneres concluded. “If you knew him, you knew that. If you didn’t know him you saw it. Let’s honor him and think about him and send love to one another.”

‘He’s Never Gonna Be Out Of My Life’

After Boss’s death was announced, DeGeneres took to Twitter to share a montage of some of the happy times the two shared together. In one clip, she said that she and Boss would say they loved each other “every day when we say goodbye” after filming the talk show.

“He says, ‘Love you much,’ and I say, ‘Love you,'” she recalled. “So he’s never gonna be out of my life. He’s always a part of my life.”

Boss’s Suicide

Boss was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot room in a motel room in Encino, California on December 13. The motel was around 15 minutes from his mansion, and he had taken an Uber there to check into a room the day before.

While TMZ has confirmed that Boss left a suicide note, the contents of it have not been disclosed publicly, with sources only saying that it alluded to challenges he’d faced in the past.

This comes days after Boss’s widow Allison Holker returned to Instagram for the first time since his death.

“My ONE and ONLY Oh how my heart aches,” she captioned a photo of her and Boss together. “We miss you so much.”

Boss’s Wife Announces His Death

Boss and Holker share two young children, along with a teenage daughter from her previous relationship who he adopted. It was Holker who made the sad announcement that her husband had taken his life hours after his body was found.

“Stephen lit up every room he stepped into,” Holker said. “He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him.”

“He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans,” she continued. “To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory.”

Boss was a consistently positive presence on television for years, so his death has come as a major shock to all. His suicide serves as a grim reminder that you never really know what someone is going through behind the scenes.

Please join us in saying a prayer for Boss’s family and friends during this difficult holiday season.

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
