Shania Twain is known for being one of the most talented country music stars in the world. That’s why fans will undoubtedly be devastated after she warned that she may lose her singing voice forever if the results of a 2018 throat surgery that she underwent do not “hold up.”

Twain Reveals All About New Album

Twain, 57, revealed this during a recent interview with TalkShopLive to promote her upcoming album “Queen Of Me,” which is her first since she underwent the surgery four years ago. This was just one of various surgeries that she’s undergone amidst her longtime battle with Lyme disease, according to Yahoo News

“For me, this album means so, so much about my decision-making and the courage to get the operation, knowing that I may never even be able to sing again after the surgery,” Twain said in the interview. “So that was a big decision.”

Twain went on to say that in making this album, which is set to come out on February 3, she had to push herself through a “fear zone” after she at first tried to write songs that were not as vocally challenging.

“Every day that I was recording I was testing the new voice,” she explained. “Getting on the mic in the studio, it’s so vulnerable. You can’t drown it out with production or a band or mixing or anything like that until much, much later on.”

Twain Not Taking Her Voice For Granted

Twain described “Queen Of Me” as being “absolutely” her most meaningful album ever because she was “relearning” how to perform well while working on it. She’s also not sure how much longer she’ll be able to perform, so she’s not taking her voice for granted.

“What’s even more precious to me is that I don’t know if the procedure that I had will last forever,” she said.

“With age, it could just not hold up, and that could be it,” she continued, adding that if this happens, she’ll have to go under the knife again for another surgery.

“I’ll have to make another decision,” Twain confessed. “Will I do the operation again or not? Do I just now write music for other people’s albums at that point? I will gladly do that, and, again, it will be another decision that I will have to make as the queen of me. Some decisions are tougher than others.”

‘Life Is Good’

Despite this, Twain assured her fans that she feels “more energetic than I have in such a long time.”

“I’ve shed a lot of weight, psychologically, in the last, I don’t know, few years, and life is good,” she concluded. “And I’m feeling almost like I better live to be 150 because I’ve got so much to do!”

In this same interview, Twain opened up about why she recently decided to pose nude for a photoshoot.

“I was very insecure woman, girl … I was one of those teenagers that would never wear a bikini at the beach, for example,” she said. “So I’m saying, well, the heck with that. I didn’t do it when I was younger, so I’m going to do it now. I’m going to feel and show that I feel comfortable in my own skin.”

“Trust me, this took courage because I am so not an exhibitionist,” Twain added. “It was all about my own message to myself. Just saying, you know, it’s just time to feel comfortable in my own skin and share that with other people and just share those insecurities, shed that skin of insecurity.”

Twain continues to be such an inspiration through both her music and her strength. We can’t wait to hear what she has in store for us with her new album when it comes out in February!
