Joy Behar has revealed that she was once fired by “Good Morning America” for a reason that may surprise you.

Behar Admits She Was Fired By ‘Good Morning America’

Page Six reported that during Friday’s episode of her ABC talk show “The View,” Behar revealed that she worked as a receptionist for “Good Morning America” in her younger days, but was fired for poor performance.

“First of all, I’d like to say that when I was fired from ‘Good Morning America’ years ago,” Behar, 80, said while interviewing guest Kumail Nanjiani, who was clearly shocked by this revelation.

“I was the worst receptionist they’ve ever had!” she added, with her co-host Sara Haines adding in agreement, “true story.”

“So I was fired, and they took me to Chippendales as my goodbye present,” Behar added. This was a reference to “Welcome to Chippendales,” which Nanjiani stars in.

Behar went on to say that she played an active role in the male striptease show, even “put[ting] the money in the guys’, you know, thingy.”

“It’s fabulous!” Behar exclaimed. Her co-host Sunny Hostin agreed with her, saying, “Chippendales is a fun place!”

“Anyway, so I’m familiar with Chippendales,” Behar concluded, with Nanjiani bursting out laughing in response.

“So that was a good and bad day for you. You lost a job, but you gained so much more,” he told her.

Behar Once Fired By ‘The View’

This comes months after Behar opened up about being fired by “The View” back in 2013. She had been with the show since it premiered in 1997, and she was brought back two years after her firing in 2015.

“I was glad to be fired. I basically was sick of the show at that point for some reason. I don’t even remember why,” Behar told Time back in June.

“We still don’t know why they dumped me,” she continued. “They still don’t know why I was sacked? That was very stupid of them. But they learned their lesson.”

Despite the fact that she turned 80 last month, Behar has no plans to retire anytime soon.

“I just signed a contract so I’ll be here for a while,” Behar told People Magazine around the time of her birthday. “I have no plans to retire.”

“It’s really, you know, something that is an important show in many ways,” she added of the ABC talk show. “Sometimes I don’t believe that, as I’ve been here since the beginning, but we’re the most-watched show in daytime. Most-watched!”

“I’m happy to be a part of it,” Behar concluded. “So no, I’m not going anywhere. I’m having a good time.”

Behar Grateful For Longevity On ‘The View’

Behar told Entertainment Tonight back in September that she’s grateful for the longevity her job on “The View” has given her.

“I was just telling somebody else, to me, longevity is the main thing in this business,” she said. “‘Cause you can have a job in a movie, and nobody sees you again, but this longevity is key.”

Given the fact that Behar regularly makes headlines with her radically leftwing and ignorant views on “The View,” many will not be surprised that “Good Morning America” decided to fire her decades ago. We can only hope that she meets the same fate on “The View” at some point in the future!
