Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly is calling out Jennifer Lopez and Shakira for the revealing outfits the singers chose to wear while performing at the Super Bowl halftime show back in 2020.

In case you need a refresher on this halftime show, you can check it out below.

‘Showing Their Vag’

“I object to like J-Lo and Shakira showing their vag at the Super Bowl,” Kelly said on her podcast, according to Daily Mail. “Like I don’t want that. It’s gotta be situation appropriate.”

Kelly was discussing women “embracing their bodies” with guest Bridget Phetasy when this Super Bowl performance came up. Though she slammed Lopez and Shakira, Kelly had words of praise for the supermodel Paulina Porizkova, who she feels flashes her body in a positive way.

‘She Looks Amazing’

“But I don’t really object to just like women embracing their bodies or showing up their bodies like the pictures you see,” Kelly said. “Paulina Porizkova just had a really interesting post. She showed her bottom, she looks amazing.”

Kelly was seemingly referring to the fact that Porizkova, 57, posted several photos to social media last month in which she flashed her behind. In one particular photo in which she posed in a tiny bikini, Porizkova strived to show the world that age really is just a number.

Lopez And Shakira Hit With Backlash

After Lopez and Shakira’s halftime show, many viewers echoed Kelly’s comments on the particular stunt, taking issue with J-Lo and Shakira’s Super Bowl performance. Some claimed they had to “shield their children’s eyes,” while others condemned the extremely sexual performance and labeled it as “embarrassing.”

Some went so far as to say that the stars’ “extreme booty shaking” was essentially “‘soft porn,” as both women were wearing “S&M outfits” and engaging in “pole dancing.” Still others complained that “too much skin was exposed,” adding that their eyes were “molested.”

“I do not subscribe to The Playboy Channel, we do not buy porn for $20 a flick, we simply wanted to sit down as a family and watch the Super Bowl,” one enraged viewer complained. “God forbid we expected to watch football and a quick concert but instead had our eyes molested.”

Lopez Defends Herself

Days after the Super Bowl performance, Lopez defended both herself and Shakira from accusations that their halftime show was “too sexy.”

“I think that’s honestly silliness,” Lopez told Variety. “Both of us are really respectful performers who are moms and have kids and are very conscious of what we do.”

“We (put on) a show that I believe was a celebration of women and our Latino culture that I think was really well reserved,” the singer argued. “And that small faction of people who want to be negative about it, I can’t even let in.”

Lopez went on to say that despite the hate, she thought the performance was “amazing” and was proud of the “many beautiful things” that followed their appearance at the sports event.

“The message of standing up for yourself, being a women — that’s what I want to pass on to little girls — everything about you — be proud of it,” she explained. “I’m very proud of the performance that night.”

Despite this, it’s clear that many Americans agree with Kelly that the performance went way too far. Perhaps the Super Bowl, as well as both Lopez and Shakira, should think twice about going that route in the future.
