Dolly Parton Pays Touching Tribute To ‘Lil’ Brother’ Leslie Jordan After He Dies In Car Crash

“Well I am as hurt and shocked as if I have lost a family member,” Parton, 76, said in a statement posted to social media. “Leslie and I had a special bond, I think the world felt they had a special bond with him.”

“I know people always say ‘Oh, they will be missed’ but in this case that could not be more true,” she added. “He will be missed by everyone who knew him personally and by everyone who was entertained by him. Rest in peace lil’ brother.”

Parton closed out her statement with her signature and a butterfly image.

Parton And Jordan Collaborated

Daily Mail reported that Parton and Jordan worked together last year when she was featured on his country music album “Company’s Comin’,” which came out in January of 2021 and featured him performing traditional hymns with various country music stars. Listen to Parton and Jordan performing “Where The Soul Never Dies” for the album in the video below.

While promoting his album in 2021, Jordan described working with Parton as a “lifelong dream,” adding that she is “just as real” as fans think she is.

“She’s just Dolly,” he told “Good Morning America.” “She’s just an icon and she’s smart, which is what I figured out really fast. Don’t think there’s some dumb blonde there. No, no, she’s smart as a whip.”

Jordan doubled down on this in another interview, saying, “I’ll tell you what I tell everybody: You don’t have to meet Dolly. You know Dolly. Dolly is exactly what you think she is … I just wanna live my life like her. There’s nobody that doesn’t like Dolly!”

Jordan Was A Huge Fan Of Parton’s

Jordan had been a fan of Parton’s going all the way back to when he saw her performing a show in 1973 when he was only 18 years-old.

“I drove from Chattanooga, Tennessee, all the way up to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Sevierville — that area,” he once recalled. “The rumor was Dolly was coming back to perform in the high school auditorium.”

Years later, when he finally got to meet Parton as a star himself, he told her this story.

“She said, ‘What year was that?’ and I said, ‘’73 … Dolly, I can also tell you what your opening line was.’ She goes, ‘No you can’t, because I think you’re making this up.'”

“I said, ‘Dolly, I was there. It was 1973. You walked onstage and said, ‘What’s a country girl without her haystack?!’ Because her hair was like this,” Jordan says, “She goes, ‘You were there!’”

Jordan’s Death

Jordan died on Monday morning when he crashed his car into a wall in Hollywood after suffering some kind of medical emergency that has not been disclosed to the public at this time, according to Variety.

Jordan was an Emmy Award-winning comedic actor who was known for his hilarious work on shows like “Will & Grace” and “Call Me Kat.” He also became a social media star during the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing joy to millions with his hilarious quarantine videos.

While we’re saddened by the loss of Jordan, we’re glad that he got the chance to realize his lifelong dream of working with Parton before his passing. May he rest in peace.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
