Country music legend Loretta Lynn tragically died in her sleep on Tuesday at the age of 90. Two days before her death, the music icon took to Instagram — for what turned out to be the last time — to share a powerful biblical verse that showcases her undying love for God.

Lynn ‘Passed Away Peacefully’

Lynn’s death was announced by her family in a brief statement.

“Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, in her sleep at home at her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills,” the family said before asking for privacy, according to NPR.

In a separate statement, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Kyle Young declared, “The story of Loretta Lynn’s life is unlike any other, yet she drew from that story a body of work that resonates with people who might never fully understand her bleak and remote childhood, her hardscrabble early days, or her adventures as a famous and beloved celebrity”

“In a music business that is often concerned with aspiration and fantasy, Loretta insisted on sharing her own brash and brave truth,” concluded Young’s statement.

Lynn’s Final Instagram Post

Two days prior to her passing, Lynn posted the biblical verses John 3:20-21 on Instagram. It was only fitting that this would be her final post, as she was devoted to God for the entire nine decades the country music legend walked the Earth.

“Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed,” she prefaced. “But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”

Lynn wrote this alongside a screenshot of John 3:21, which reads, “But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.”

‘My Faith Means A Lot To Me’

A devout Christian, Lynn posted a video to Instagram in which she opened up about her faith.

“My faith means a lot to me,” she told the camera as she sat by a piano and held her acoustic guitar. “If it wasn’t for God, none of us would be here. Jesus is my friend. I keep hold of his hand and I don’t let loose. If I ever let loose, well, I hope he grabs me because I’ll be lost.”

Lynn went on to say that the fact that Jesus died for her sins meant the world to her.

“Oh my, it hurts. I won’t be able to tell him much I appreciate what he did,” added the Kentucky-native. “There’s no way you can repay Jesus for what he done. There’s just no way. You just have to show him how much you love him, and I think that’s the way we all have to repay him. It’s in your actions.”
