‘Stargirl’ Actress Brec Bassinger Says Fans Will Get “A Good Ending” No Matter What Happens To The Show Following CW Sale

Stargirl lead Brec Bassinger assures fans the show will have a definitive ending if it's canceled prematurely and talks team-ups.

We may be seeing the end of the dominance of DC and the Arrowverse at The CW now that NexStar Broadcasting has bought the network. Change is sure to come particularly after a massive shift already occurred with the canceling of several DC shows from Arrow to Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow.

Others such as Stargirl and Superman & Lois appear immune for now but things are definitely up in the air as both series approach the Season Four mark. Even so, Brec Bassinger, the star of the former, knows what she wants to see if they reach that milestone.

She told Looper she has a team-up with Superman in mind. “Superman & Lois, tone-wise — I totally can see our shows mixing,” Bassinger said. “Superman’s one of the most iconic superheroes ever. It’d be really cool for Stargirl and Superman to work together.”

That might be difficult as each program takes place on a different Earth thanks to the Crisis event of 2019 yet writers always find a way.

They also find ways to end stories, either firmly or in a slipshod manner, and Bassinger says the ending for Stargirl is prepared for; regardless of the fate of the series when this season wraps up.

“We’re so lucky,” she explained. “So many things are up in the air, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed. But [our showrunner] definitely protected the end, where regardless of the future, fans can feel happy, and they’ve got a good ending either way.”

Widely respected for his knowledge of lore and storytelling prowess, the showrunner is former DC writer and executive Geoff Johns — who may have a plan in his back pocket but it’s only a fallback if Stargirl gets renewed.

He as well as Bassinger and the rest of the team should find out very soon, says Amy Smart who plays the mom of the title heroine. “We’ll find out by the end of the month whether we go back for Season 4,” the actress said to Starbust Magazine. “So we’re all just crossing our fingers and toes!”

Should season four come to pass, Bassinger wants more team-ups with People of Steel, especially Superman’s cousin Kara. “From the very beginning, I said I’ve wanted to see Supergirl and Stargirl team up because [they would be the] most iconic female power duo,” Bassinger added in her Looper interview.

“I feel like they would get along and push each other and support each other. From the very beginning, I’ve said Supergirl and Stargirl,” she continued.

CW’s Supergirl Melissa Benoist hung up her cape and moved on to other things with her own production company, but rumors persist she will be back for future appearances as the Girl of Steel.
