Fans Believe Warner Bros. Is Teasing A Superman Cameo In New TV Spot For ‘Black Adam’

Outlets are catching onto the real possibility that Henry Cavill's Superman could be making an appearance in Black Adam.

The most recent TV spot for Black Adam may reflect a few 11th-hour changes to the final product pertaining to Superman and that possibility has people talking.

It’s only a minute long — if that — but gets in some new footage and exposition. The one bit that stands out is a close-up of the star Dwayne Johnson saying the line “There’s no one on this planet that can stop me.”

Most interpret this as a tease of Superman and, more specifically, the return of Henry Cavill to the DCEU; a scenario of which we have been covering the scoops and rumors concerned for a long while, going back before Black Adam’s principal photography.

Those rumors have heated up over the last few months — appropriately in the middle of summertime — with word of Henry Cavill taking part in fittings and reportedly filming his first new scene as the Man of Steel since 2017.

Even if you haven’t been following all the coverage that closely, reports are coming out very recently that treat Cavill’s homecoming as a sure thing. Look no further than Giant Freakin Robot, whose latest exclusive on Black Adam shares purported details of the scene where the two mighty beings finally meet.

In what they say is a post-credit scene, as we have said here and others did elsewhere, Black Adam is in his throne room sometime after the events of the film’s plot and is confronted by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) who is confirmed for the movie by the recent TV spot.

She tries to recruit him but the Man in Black declines. Waller then brings in Superman to back her up and sway things to her liking. Supposedly, it’s at this point Johnson says his line in the teaser and the Man of Steel shows up, replying, “Good thing I’m not from this planet.”

Obvious questions linger such as how Waller impresses The Last Son of Krypton into her service and what team she is recruiting for, though The Suicide Squad is a salient answer. Nonetheless, if we can take this information as credible, DC and Warner Bros. are going to build to that fight between Superman and Adam virtually promised by Dwayne Johnson.

Does that mean Cavill is a lock? Not exactly — but if anybody can coax him to make a new deal and be Superman again, it’s the guy whose ex-wife manages himself and the Witcher star.

Moreover, Cavill is the Superman of the Snyderverse which is another loose end that may cease to exist if insiders such as Zack Snyder’s storyboard collaborator Jay Oliva can be believed.

That’s only one view, though. YouTube commentator Warstu has a much more positive one which is that the Snyderverse is not only coming back in time, but it’s alive and well. He points out that Black Adam and The Flash are using that timeline started in Man of Steel; a timeline even used by Wonder Woman 1984 and expected to be followed by Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Henry Cavill is further evidence of this as stunt doubles filled his spot in Shazam! and Peacemaker — no one else’s. Warner Bros. has never technically replaced him or canonized a new Superman, let alone a timeline shift. Considering that, Warstu takes these faceless cameos as signs Cavill was still in the fold all along.

Regardless, don’t take any of this as confirmation just yet. Wait for Black Adam to come out first and prove the leaks right or wrong.
