Candace Cameron Bure Reveals Details About Her Time On ‘The View’ And Why Her Experience Co-Hosting The Show “Wasn’t That Fun”

Hollywood star Candace Cameron Bure of “Full House” and “Fuller House” fame spent two years co-hosting the ABC talk show “The View” as the token Christian conservative on the panel, appearing in seasons 19 and 20 at irregular intervals in 2015 and 2016.

Co-Hosting ‘The View’ ‘Wasn’t That Fun’

In a new interview, Cameron Bure is opening up about this experience and revealing what “wasn’t that fun” about being on this show.

Cameron Bure, 46, told Variety that “‘The View’ came knocking one day” during a busy time in her life when she was juggling both work on “Fuller House” and making wholesome television movies for the Hallmark Channel.

“I was on for two years but it was on and off because I was juggling working on ‘Fuller House’ and TV movies while I was doing ‘The View,’ so it probably actually amounted to a year on camera, but it was technically two years,” she recalled.

When asked if she would ever do a talk show like “The View” again, Cameron Bure made it clear that doing that kind of show is not something that interests her anymore.

“I would love to do a talk show again. I really enjoy it,” she admitted, adding, “I don’t want to do a political talk show. That wasn’t that fun. But just talking to people, hearing about what people are doing, especially the good in the world, that is something I would absolutely love to do.”

Given how Cameron Bure was treated as the token conservative on the notoriously liberal “The View” panel, it’s not surprising that she feels this way about political talk shows.

Cameron Bure ‘Cried Every Day’ On ‘The View’

While appearing on The View: Behind the Table podcast last year, Cameron Bure admitted that she “cried every day” during her time on “The View.”

“It was something that was new and I knew it was going to challenge me,” she said, as per Newsweek‘s transcription of the interview. “It all changed when Trump entered the race.”

Cameron Bure is referring to co-hosting “The View” during the highly contentious 2016 presidential race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. During this time, the Fuller House star found herself surrounded by Trump-hating liberals like Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg, who had no problem letting her know exactly what they thought about conservatives.

“The stress and the anxiety. I actually have a pit in my stomach right now,” Cameron Bure said. “There was only one type of stress that I’ve ever felt in my life, that came from that show. And I [have] PTSD, like, I can feel it. It was so difficult, and to manage that emotional stress was very, very hard.”

Cameron Bure Was Often ‘Crying Before The Show’

Cameron Bure went on to explain that she comes from a family that doesn’t discuss politics too much, so having such intense political discussions on live television was difficult for her.

“When I felt like I was going into a show that I felt like I didn’t have a clear opinion about, or it was something that I was legitimately nervous to talk about because I knew that I did have an opinion, but I knew I was going to be the only one at the table that has my opinion, I would just get sick to my stomach,” she disclosed.

“It isn’t who I want to be. It’s not that I couldn’t do it, I just don’t feel like conversations are their healthiest when they’re done that way and you’re forced to make it competitive,” the actress elaborated. “That would make me sick to my stomach as well. So many mornings I would just be crying before the show.”

Thankfully, Cameron Bure never has to go on “The View” again! She’s signed a deal with Great American Family to create wholesome content for them, and her first Christmas movie for the network is set to come out later this year.

When you have the kind of talent Cameron Bure has, you really don’t need to be wasting your time with women like Behar and Goldberg on “The View.”

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
