A shocking story has just come out about Whoopi Goldberg, and the only way to describe it is this: it stinks!

Goldberg’s ‘Fart War’

In a clip from this week’s episode of the ABC reality show “Claim to Fame” that was obtained by Entertainment Weekly, Goldberg’s granddaughter Amara Skye Dean revealed that the co-host of “The View” once got in a “fart war” with Billy Crystal and the late great Robin Williams.

“I wasn’t there, but it was my favorite story that my grandmother has told me,” Dean said in the clip, “about her, Robin Williams, and Billy Crystal standing in an elevator, and Robin Williams was just farting his life away. I guess they were Dutch-ovening each other, just basking in the ambiance of farts.”

Dean went on to say that Goldberg, whose real name is Caryn Johnson, got the nickname “Whoopi” because she “likes to fart a lot.”

“Whoopee cushions, farts,” she added. “That’s how Caryn Johnson became Whoopi Goldberg.”

Whoopi Is Always Prepared For War

Whoopi’s cheese-cutting conflict with her fellow comedians is only part of the story. When it comes to flatulence, she is always ready for battle. In case you don’t believe her granddaughter, here’s a video of Whoopi Goldberg farting on “The View.”

That was probably just a one-time thing though. Oh, wait – never mind.

It’s almost like she thinks that if she doesn’t pass a certain amount of gas each month someone is going to take the name away from her. Have mercy on us, Whoopi! Your name is safe.

Did she decide flatulence is her catchphrase or something?

Goldberg On Her Nickname

Goldberg had previously admitted that this was how she got her nickname in a 2017 interview on “The Graham Norton Show.”

“The theaters I worked in were so small, they didn’t have a lot of backstage room, so if you were gassy, you had to [fart] all the way through,” Goldberg said at the time. “People would say, ‘You are like a whoopee cushion.’ So that’s what I became.”

Page Six reported that it had previously been known that Goldberg, Crystal, and Williams were friends for many years. Crystal made a surprise appearance on “The View” in November of 2020 to give Goldberg a sentimental photo of the two of them with Williams, who tragically committed suicide back in 2014 at the age of 63. Crystal told Goldberg that he looks at the photo “every morning,” according to People Magazine.

“The three of us did some good work,” Goldberg said, referring to the work they did raising money through Comic Relief charity shows.

‘Claim To Fame’

“Claim To Fame” is a reality show in which people with celebrity relatives are put in a house together and asked to try to discern who one another’s famous family members are.

The Sun reported that in a previous episode, Dean had to tell the cast two truths and a lie about her famous relative. The two truths she picked were that her “famous relative is her grandmother,” and that “she’s best known for being an actor.”

The lie that Dean told was that her relative’s “biggest award is an AVN.”

“For those of you who don’t know, it’s an adult film award,” Dean continued.

This is of course a lie, as Goldberg won an Oscar for her work in the 1990 movie Ghost. Thankfully, Goldberg has never been known to appear in a pornographic film, as there is certainly nobody clamoring to see her have sex.

“Claim To Fame” airs on Monday nights on ABC, which also airs Goldberg’s talk show “The View” every weekday morning. While Goldberg’s “fart war” story is shocking, she’s let fans know many times over the years that she has no shame, so there’s nothing we’d put past her.
