Billy Ray Cyrus is 60 years old today! The country icon is most well-known for his song “Achy Breaky Heart” and for his acting career that led to the stardom of his daughter, Miley. But Billy Ray has had a long and storied career and life of his own.
So, look back at some of our favorite things about Billy Ray, but mostly his hair.
He Starred In A TV Show Before Hannah Montana
You could be forgiven for assuming that Cyrus’ first big acting gig came in the 2006-2011 Disney Channel megahit Hannah Montana. But before the hit show, Cyrus had already developed a sizeable acting career on his own.
From 2001-2004 he starred on the PAX TV show Doc playing a western doctor who had moved from Montana to New York City. Doc brought his small-town, Christian sensibilities to the big city.

He Helped Put Lil Nas X on the map
While Cyrus is most well-known for being the father of Miley Cyrus, he helped put another up-and-coming star into stardom.

The song first got traction on TikTok before breaking onto the Billboard charts in March 2019. But when the song hit number 19 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, the magazine knocked it off the list. Billboard said the song wasn’t country.
Billy Ray said, “Oh yeah? Hold my beer,” and hopped onto a remix of the track. The song went diamond, the remix was nominated for Record of the Year, and Lil Nas X and Billy Ray won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video!
Lil Nas X is now one of the biggest crossover stars across hip-hop, pop, and country music.

In the early to mid-2000s, he adopted what I call the “post-mullet” that was one of his better looks.

Recently he’s gone with this Wednesday Addams look. Am I crazy for thinking he has extensions? That is so much hair.
