It’s a brave new world out there, and nothing makes that clearer than this story out of a prison in New Jersey, where a transgender woman allegedly impregnated two of her fellow inmates who are biological females.

Transgender Woman Allegedly Impregnates Two Female Inmates
A New Jersey Department of Corrections spokesman confirmed to NJ.com that 27-year-old Demi Minor was transferred last month from the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women to the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility, which is a prison for young adults that is located in Burlington County.
This came after it was revealed that she had impregnated two female inmates at Edna Mahan following engaging in “consensual sexual relationships with another incarcerated person,” according to The New York Post.

How Did This Happen?
Last year, New Jersey put a policy in place that allows prisoners to be housed in accordance with their preferred gender identity. This came about through a settlement from a civil rights suit that was filed by a woman forced to live in men’s prisons for 18 months, and the policy must stay in place for at least one year. As you can see, Minor seems to have taken full advantage of this policy in the most disturbing way possible.
The New Jersey Department of Corrections spokesman went on to say that “the department is currently reviewing the policy for housing transgender incarcerated persons with the intention of implementing minor modifications.” The spokesman then added that all housing decisions “are made within the parameters of the settlement agreement which requires consideration of gender identity and the health and safety of the individual.”
Minor Complains
The spokesman also said that Minor, who is currently serving thirty years for manslaughter, is being held in the vulnerable unit in the new prison where she is the only woman. In a blog post that was published over the weekend, Minor complained that she was placed on suicide watch at the new facility “due to the fact that I had hung myself in the van.”
Minor went on to allege that guards at the new facility denied her request to be strip-searched by a female DOC officer.
“[NJDOC has] violated my right to be safe and free from sexual harassment, by putting me in one of the most violent youth correctional facilities,” Minor wrote. “While living here at GYSC, I have found myself under attack by young inmates who are immature and just plain ignorant towards a person like me.”

Minor Alleges That She Was Beaten
Minor then claimed that she was briefly transferred to New Jersey State Prison, where she “was called he and him well over 30 times,” adding, “this has not happened to me in years being referred to primarily as a man.”
Minor had alleged in a previous post that she was beaten as she was removed from the women’s prison by force. The DOC refused to comment on this, only saying that it is investigating the claims.
“NJDOC cannot comment on any active investigations,” the DOC said. “The Department has zero tolerance for abuse, and the safety and security of the incarcerated population and staff are of critical importance.”
Minor will not be eligible for parole until 2037, at which time she will be 42 years old. No further information is available about the female inmates she impregnated.
