Everyone’s favorite slime is making his way to the big screen, and thanks to Crunchyroll, international fans excited for the upcoming film That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond won’t be left in the dust.
On June 28th, the Western anime streaming platform announced that they had “acquired the [film’s] global distribution and marketing rights (excluding Asia) from Kodansha”.
According to an official press release, shortly following its Japanese premiere in November 2022, Crunchyroll will distribute That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond “in all major global territories” in the early months of 2023.
Presently, little is known about the film’s plot details, aside from the fact that it will not only take place following the conclusion of the anime’s second season, but also feature a completely new story by original light novel writer Fuze.
However, as described by a brief synopsis of the film provided by both Crunchyroll and studio Eight Bit, the animation production company behind both the series’ anime adaptation and the upcoming film, Scarlet Bond will find that “a long-running conspiracy is swirling over a mysterious power known as ‘Queen’ in Raja, a small country west of Tempest.”

Initially serialized as an online light novel written by the aforementioned Fuze, That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime is an isekai series which centers on Minami Satoru, who after dying unceremoniously at the age of 37, is reborn in a fantasy world as nothing more than an ordinary slime.
Slowly coming to develop the pair of helpful RPG skills ‘Predator’ and ‘Great Sage’, Minami soon finds himself serving as the leader of a popular city wherein all manners of monsters, demons, and humans live side by side
“The series remains a fan favorite with Crunchyroll audiences,” added Crunchyroll Senior Vice President of Global Commerce Mitchel Berger in the official press release, “and we’re thrilled to continue the adventures with the theatrical release of the film early next year on the big screen”
