After RAW, it seems John Cena will miss WWE SummerSlam. Also, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole are out of action for the foreseeable future.

John Cena May Miss SummerSlam

For John Cena, there is little left to accomplish in pro wrestling. He has won basically every title and gimmick match possible.

At 16-world title reigns, he is one away from breaking Ric Flair’s record. Many believe that day will happen before Cena hangs up his boots.

This past week, WWE celebrated 20 years of Cena on RAW. It featured highlights, comments from talent and Cena even appearing.

Throughout the show, Cena interacted with several superstars. One of those was Austin Theory, who is clearly someone Vince McMahon sees as the next mega star.

They traded a few words, but did not get physical. Inside the ring, Cena thanked the fans for the ride.

In the speech, Cena wanted to let fans know he would be gone for a bit. Also, he stressed that he was not giving a farewell speech.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cena against Theory at SummerSlam now seems off. The match was never official and many assumed it would still be put together.

Instead, Cena seems more likely for WrestleMania 39 in California.

“At one point the idea was John Cena vs Theory and there was a tease on television this week,” stated the report. “If he was announced for a show, he’d move more tickets right now than anyone except Dwayne Johnson.”

“So, it makes no sense not to advertise him. But, they wouldn’t do such a match without more of an angle. So the match, which is clearly a direction, may also be delayed for WrestleMania.”

Cena has barely wrestled the past few years as she begins to shift into Hollywood. His last match was losing to Roman Reigns in the main even of last year’s SummerSlam.

AEW is dealing with a string of injuries right now. About a dozen of their wrestlers cannot work and that includes new AEW World Champion CM Punk.

Two other big names currently out of action are Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter did not have positive news regarding a return.

Cole reportedly suffered a very serious concussion at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

Cole was in a fatal four-way match, which saw Jay White retain his title. He might have suffered the concussion after a superkick from “Hangman” Adam Page.

The Young Bucks confirmed on Dynamite how Page is out of action. This could cause problems as AEW was building towards a major feud once Kenny Omega returned.

With the current injury, Cole might take some extra time off. He had been wrestling hurt since NXT and maybe the best thing to do is rest.

Danielson was only supposed to be out a few weeks. That has passed and now the fall is when he might return.

“The silver lining is that the ratings this summer are probably not as important as in the fall, winter and spring, when the new distribution contract is being negotiated,” stated the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. “Danielson is unknown because if it is a concussion, and with his history, there is no timetable, but one certainly hopes he would be back.”

Without Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli took his spot. He defeated Zack Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door and is now part of the Blackpool Combat Club.

With his history of concussions, AEW wants be careful. Already once in his career, Danielson had to retire because of the same injury.

The one good thing is AEW has a loaded roster. Now, they need to let the other talent shine.
