Dave Coulier Opens Up About ‘Best Girlfriend’ Lori Loughlin’s Prison Time

Dave Coulier spent years starring on the beloved sitcom “Full House” with Lori Loughlin, and he never imagined that she’d ever end up in prison.

‘Lori Was Last On The List’

“If you would have said at the beginning of ‘Full House,’ ‘Who’s the one person who’s going to end up going to jail?’ Lori was last on the list,” Coulier, who played Uncle Joey on the show, told E! News.

Coulier went on to admit that Loughlin took a “strange turn” in her life when she pleaded guilty for her role in the college admissions scandal, ultimately serving two months in prison. However, he made sure to add that he still has a soft spot for her.

“Lori is my best girlfriend in life,” he said. “We make each other laugh really hard through the tough times and the fun times.”

Coulier went on to describe Loughlin as a “wonderful human being.”

“There’s a lot of untold story underneath that I don’t think a lot of people know,” he said. “We all make mistakes.”

Loughlin’s Scandal

Loughlin and her husband, the fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, were arrested back in 2019 on charges related to them allegedly paying $500,000 to have their daughters admitted to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team, even though neither girl had ever rowed before. After being found guilty, Loughlin was sentenced to two months in jail, a $150,000 fine, and 150 hours of community service. Meanwhile, Giannulli was sentenced to five months in jail, a $250,000 fine, and 250 hours of community service.

Loughlin began her prison sentence in October of 2020, and she was released two months later at the end of December. Giannulli began his sentence in November of 2020, an was released in May of 2021.

Last October, a source told US Weekly that Loughlin is eager to “put the past behind her, adding that the actress has “privately arranged to put two students through four years of college.”

“Lori’s trying to lead with love and kindness, and trying to make a difference in the lives of kids, in particular, who are in need of help,” another insider said back in March.

Loughlin Honors Bob Saget

Last month, Loughlin appeared on the Instagram Live of her and Coulier’s “Full House” co-star John Stamos to pay tribute to the late Bob Saget, who died suddenly back in January at the age of 65.

“People I don’t know [come] up to me and [say], ‘I’m so sorry for your loss’ and people [talk] to me about how much Bob meant to them,” she said, according to People Magazine. “He was everyone’s dad, he was part of everyone’s childhood… it’s still hard for me to believe that Bob is gone.”

Coulier has said that the “Full House” cast has only gotten closer since Saget’s death.

“We realize how precious life is and how quickly this clock is ticking,” he explained. “We pull together as a family during moments like this.”

“We’ve pretty much experienced everything that a real family can experience,” Coulier continued. “Getting picked up, getting canceled, marriages, divorces, births, deaths. I mean, it’s pretty much what every family goes through. And we’ve stuck together through all of it.”

“It’s incredible to have a group of people in our lives like this, where we know we’re going to get that instant support system,” he concluded. “It’s pretty special.”

Clearly, Loughlin wants to put her scandal behind her, and her “Full House” costars are trying to help her do that. It remains to be seen if she will be successful, or if her name will be synonymous with this scandal forever.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
