Douglas Lima knows what it takes to become a champion in Bellator.

He also knows what it takes to climb that ladder.

Lima will look to secure his standing in the welterweight division this Friday when he faces Jason Jackson. The bout has been promoted to the main event of Bellator 283 live on Showtime from Tacoma, Washington and the Emerald Queen Casino and Hotel.

Sidney Outlaw was to challenge Patricky Pitbull for the lightweight belt. However, Pitbull suffered an injury and was forced out. Outlaw will meet Tofiq Musayev in the co-main event.

The 34-year-old Lima is a two-time welterweight tournament champion, a Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix winner and a three-time Bellator welterweight champion.

He holds a share of the record for most knockouts in Bellator at nine, and is also tied with Michael Page for most stoppage wins in the division.

In 42 career fights, Lima is 32-10 with 16 knockout wins and 10 more by submission. But he enters this match having lost three in a row.

In 2020, Gegard Mousasi bested him for the vacant middleweight title by decision. He lost to Yaroslav Amosov for the belt a year later, and is coming off a split decision defeat to Page last October.

But you only have to take a quick look at his resume to see how dangerous Lima is. In 2019, he topped Rory MacDonald and knocked out Page. He’s also defeated the likes of Paul Daley and Andrey Koreshkov.

The minute you underestimate Douglas Lima is the minute you are laying flat on your back in the cage.
