The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick completed his first workout with an NFL team in over five years on Wednesday.

Kaepernick Completes Workout With NFL Team

An NFL source told ESPN that Kaepernick, who is best known for taking a knee during the national anthem before his games with the 49ers, completed a workout with the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday. Raiders owner Mark Davis had said back in 2020 that he would give his “blessing” if the team’s front office or coaches ever wanted to sign Kaepernick.

This was Kaepernick’s first workout with an NFL team since he left the 49ers after the 2016 season. It is also the first time that he visited with a team since May of 2017, when he flew to Seattle to meet with the Seahawks, but they ended up passing on the chance to sign him.

Kaepernick’s Protests

Though Kaepernick claimed that his anthem-kneeling antics were to protest against racial inequality in America, many saw this as a clear sign of disrespect to the American flag and those who have fought and died for it.

The left has tried to turn Kaepernick into a martyr of sorts, claiming that he has not been signed by another team in over five years because the NFL is racist. However, it should be noted that Kaepernick led the 49ers to an abysmal losing record during his final season with the team, so it’s likely his own lack of football skill that has led to him not being re-signed.

Kaepernick Wants Back In The NFL

Despite comparing the NFL to slavery in his Netflix documentary “Colin In Black & White” back in the fall, he’s taken to begging lately to be allowed back in the league. Last month, he claimed that since the NFL has gone “woke” on racial issues, the league is now more “in alignment” with his own views.

“You have ‘End Racism’ in the back of your end zone. You have ‘Black Lives Matter’ on your helmet. Everything I’ve said should be in alignment with what you’re saying publicly,” he said. “It’s a $16 billion business. When I first took a knee, my jersey went to No. 1. When I did the deal with Nike, their value increased by $6 billion. Six billion. With a B.”

‘Let Me Compete’

“So if you’re talking about the business side, it shows [it’s] beneficial,” he added. “If you’re talking about the playing side, come in, let me compete. You can evaluate me from there. The NFL’s supposed to be a meritocracy. Come in, let me compete. If I’m not good enough, get rid of me. But let me come in and show you.”

It remains to be seen whether Kaepernick was “good enough” yesterday for the Raiders to sign him. Given how much he loves disrespecting our country and our flag, however, there are millions of Americans who have no interest in seeing him play professional football again.
