celebrities who were in the military

It is easy to forget that celebrities are people like you and me. They go to the store, love, cry, and some of them serve their country by joining the armed forces. As we look forward to Memorial Day to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country, let’s look back at some celebrities who were in the military.

Celebrities Who Served In The Military

These celebrities were athletes, actors, and musicians. But they all have one thing in common. They chose to serve their country.

Elvis

Elvis was drafted into the military in 1958 and served until 1960, stationed in Arkansas, Texas, and Germany.

Ted Williams

The greatest hitter of all time could have spent his service playing baseball on a service team. Instead, Williams trained to be a fighter pilot during World War II, where it was said his hitting skills made him a natural pilot and expert gunman.

Williams returned to the service during the Korean War. Williams saw action over Korea, flying 39 missions and earning the Air Medal and two Gold Stars for his efforts.

Pat Tillman

Pat Tillman gave up millions of dollars in the NFL to join the Army. Tillman lost his life due to friendly fire while serving in Afghanistan.

Adam Driver

Before becoming one of Hollywood’s most unconventional leading men, Adam Driver served in the Marines from 2002-to 2004. Driver injured his sternum before a deployment to Iraq and was then forced out of the service, which led to the beginning of his acting career.

And wouldn’t you know it, a bunch of leftists tried to “cancel” the Star Wars actor over it.

Jimmy Stewart

Jimmy Stewart was one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, but when World War 2 commenced, the iconic actor suited up to fly in the Army Air Force. Far from a bystander, Stewart flew several combat missions in Europe and served in the Air Force Reserve until 1968, achieving the rank of colonel.
