Former UFC champion Henry Cejudo has the itch.
Cejudo, who is a two-division UFC titleholder, retired from the sport. However, he wants to make a return and challenge Alex Volkanovski for the title.
On social media, Cejudo confirmed that he has re-entered the USADA drug testing pool. That would be the first step towards his return.
Cejudo, though, didn’t exactly leave the UFC on the best of terms. Fight contracts would need to be worked out.
However, during an interview with The Schmo recently, Cejudo made it seem like he was on the path to fighting once again.
“Like I said, if I could fight for (Chan Sung Jung) I know it would be a different fight,” Cejudo said (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “I know if I can fight Volkanovski, I know that I can still beat him.
“It’s not about me killing him, it’s just about me beating him. Outsmarting him, outwitting him. I still believe that I do have the ability, the speed, the wrestling, the IQ, the experience, the toughness, the grit to really challenge a man like that.”
Over the weekend, Volkanovski defended his title with a victory over “The Korean Zombie” in dominating fashion.
“But it’s up to you fans,” Cejudo said. “It’s up to Dana White. I’m all about it, they know I’m about it, I’ve said it before if me and Alexander can make a payday off of this, I could become the first triple champ or he could shut up the cringe.
“It’ll be a treat for everybody.”
