Gwen Stefani Calls Marrying Blake Shelton ‘Greatest Thing To Ever Happen To Me’

It’s been nearly one year since Gwen Stefani married Blake Shelton, and in a new interview on Thursday night, she described it as the “greatest thing to ever happen to” her. 

Stefani Forgets To Wear Wedding Ring

Entertainment Tonight reported that while being interviewed by late night television host Jimmy Kimmel, Stefani admitted that she forgot to wear her wedding ring on the show. However, she made it clear that this is not indicative of how her marriage to Shelton is going. 

“I forgot to wear my ring. It’s like the first time! I thought, ‘OK, I’m going to put it in the jewelry cleaner so Jimmy sees how sparkly and amazing my ring is and then hello empty finger,” Stefani said with a laugh. 

“I’m so embarrassed! I’m sorry, Blakey,” she added. “I love my husband, and I love being married to him. It’s just the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me, so here we are.”

Stefani Recounts Cute Story

Stefani went on to say that she loves rings as she told a story about Shelton coming into her makeup room with a ladder to help her get a beeping alarm turned off. She and her assistant both noticed the wedding ring on Blake’s finger. 

“Then I saw the ring, and even my assistant was like, ‘Ooo, the ring looks good.’ And I was like, ‘I know! It’s so sexy,'” she recalled.

Kimmel suggested it may have looked extra good at that moment because Blake was doing a household chore.

During their wedding in July of last year, Shelton performed a song he wrote for her as his vows, and she told Kimmel that she crying so hard that she “had to do my makeup over before we did photos.”

Carson Daly Officiates Wedding

Stefani also talked about having “The Voice” host Carson Daly officiate their wedding.

“Basically, we didn’t know who was gonna marry us — it was COVID,” Stefani explained. “… We knew we wanted it to be intimate … and I just had the idea of Carson because he’s the one person that we both know so well, and we’ve known through the years.”

“He is an amazing guy, I love him,” Stefani added of Daly. “He’s such a good dad, a family guy. … I just wanted it to be serious, and I wanted [the officiant to be] someone who is in our spiritual circle, that was gonna be there.”

Shelton Gushes Over Wedding

Back in December, Shelton told daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that his wedding was “the greatest gig I ever had!” 

“[It was] less than 30 people total. It was awesome,” Shelton said at the time. “It was exactly what it needed to be.”

Shelton and Stefani seem to be the perfect couple, and they are so relatable to fans everywhere. For this reason, we would like to wish them many years of happiness to come!
