A new report has surfaced, focusing on Shane McMahon. It seems there were some WrestleMania 38 plans in the works for him. Plus, it outlines some backstage heat he suffered during this past Sunday’s Royal Rumble .
Shane McMahon – WrestleMania 38 Plans
Dave Meltzer chats about Shane McMahon during his most recent edition of Wrestling Observer . He notes that Shane was originally supposed to participate in WWE’s February pay-per-view (PPV), Elimination Chamber.
Cannot wait for @WWE ’s return to @ATTStadium for TWO NIGHTS on April 2nd and 3rd!

McMahon’s participation at the Saudi Arabia event was to set up a feud between Seth Rollins and him, for a match at WrestleMania 38. The storyline was to center around the WWE Championship.
As most know by now, Seth, along with Matt Riddle, AJ Styles, Austin Theory, Brock Lesnar, and of course, WWE Champion Bobby Lashley are all scheduled for the Elimination Chamber match. Therefore, plans have clearly changed.
WrestleMania 38 Plans Changed Due To Shane McMahon & Backstage Heat?
As mentioned earlier, Shane McMahon had a ton of heat following the 2022 Royal Rumble. As the lead producer of the men’s match, things were changed a lot during the day of the event
Meltzer notes that he’s gotten many off-handed remarks about Shane-O-Mac, since. In the past, McMahon’s son has helped produce the bout.
However, this year, he had a “lead role” in it all. It sounds like Shane rubbed some people the wrong way in terms of his production.
Could all this heat be the reason plans with Seth Rollins were scrapped? It’s hard to say.
As of this writing, there aren’t any more WWE appearances advertised for Shane McMahon. Still, that doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t be participating in this year’s WM.
Over to the land of AEW, sadly, a superstar in their women’s division is injured. More on this story, below.
AEW Riho Injury Update
AEW’s first-ever Women’s Champion, Riho, is currently on the injured list. Dave Meltzer talks about this during a recent Wrestling Observer Radio.
According to the report, Riho sustained the injury while wrestling Britt Baker. Still, she carried on and completed the match without a fuss.
In fact, she sustained the injury early on in the bout. She would end up finishing it when all was said and done, despite all this.
Meltzer confirms that Riho has a broken collarbone. She’ll be out of action for three months.
Dave goes on to say that a “broken clavicle” (broken collarbone) is quite painful. So she must have felt quite uncomfortable during the entire match if the injury occurred earlier on.
Riho’s AEW History
Riho was only 9 years old and still in elementary school when she began training to be a wrestler, in 2006. She had her debut match on May 29th of that year.
She’s been wrestling ever since. In May 2019, she entered the land of AEW , participating in a six-woman tag bout at the Double or Nothing PPV.
She would face and defeat Nyla Rose in October 2019 to become the inaugural Women’s Champion for the brand. On the February 12 edition of Dynamite in 2020, Riho lost her title to Rose after a 133-day reign.
Wishing Riho has a speedy recovery. Can’t wait to see what she does in that squared circle upon her return.
