As the Omicron strain of COVID-19 reportedly rips through New York City, the number of people testing positive has skyrocketed. That includes people who received their vaccine and booster. “The View” cohost Whoopi Goldberg is now among them as she tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend.
Thankfully, the “vaxxed and boosted” former Sister Act star is only showing mild symptoms.

Whoopi Goldberg Absent From ‘The View’
“The View” panel appeared on Monday morning’s show from their homes as an extra precaution. Cohost Joy Behar wasn’t thrilled about it:
“Happy New Year from all of our living rooms. As you can see we’re back in boxes and doing the show remotely — hopefully for just a week, I’m praying that it’s just a week but you never know because this omicron thing is all over the place.”
All of the hosts have been personally impacted by the virus. Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Ana Navarro discussed their personal experiences over the holiday.
“The View” cohost Sunny Hostin also tested positive for COVID-19 but recovered over the Christmas break and was healthy enough to appear.

‘The View’ Has Second Run-in With COVID
This outbreak is the second time the daytime talk show got hit with COVID. The last time was much more dramatic when hosts learned they tested positive in the middle of a live show and had to evacuate the stage.
All of those hosts are vaccinated. But this new strain of COVID appears to cause a lot of “breakthrough” cases.
Thankfully, the vaccine seems to do well at what it was designed for to prevent severe infections, hospitalizations, and death.

Thankfully, this strain of COVID appears to show milder symptoms than previous strains.
Here’s hoping Whoopi makes a swift recovery.
For me, she’s about the only panelist on “The View” that I can tolerate (which isn’t saying much). Plus, she starred in so many great movies while growing up. Who doesn’t love Ghost and Sister Act and, of course, The Lion King!
I hope she continues to live a long and healthy life.
