Fighters, coaches and managers are no longer required to test for COVID-19 ahead of UFC 270.
According to a report by MMA Fighting, the change goes into effect ahead of this Saturday. Individuals fully vaccinated will not be required to test.
“No testing is required if you have proof of vaccination on record with UFC,” a letter sent to fighters stated. “Or if you can provide proof upon check in at the host hotel.
“If UFC does not have your proof of vaccination on record and if you cannot provide…you will be considered unvaccinated.”
This is the biggest change since 2020.
Those coming to the Honda Center and California will still need to test for pre-departure when traveling.
UFC 270 features Francis Ngannou vs. Ciryl Gane to unify the heavyweight titles. Also, Brandon Moreno defends his flyweight belt vs. Deiveson Figueiredo.
Fans going to the card will need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test with an antigen test or a PCR test.
The UFC previously held events in Abu Dhabi on “Fight Island.” That started when COVID first sprung up.
Since that time, the UFC has followed the NFL, NBA and other major leagues with testing guidelines.
