UFC 270 Could Feature The Best Fight Of The Year

Sure, Francis Ngannou-Ciryl Gane is great. But another UFC 270 fight could steal the show.

In the co-main event Saturday night, Brandon Moreno defends his title vs. Deiveson Figueiredo.

The card takes place from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, airing live on pay-per-view.

Ngannou and Gane collide in the main event for the unified heavyweight title. And that bout alone could leave fight fans on the edge of their seat.

But we get quite the third meeting in the co-headliner with Moreno and Figueiredo.

First a little back-story on the two.

Moreno won the belt in a rematch with Figueiredo back at UFC 263 June. The fight earned him a “Performance of the Night” bonus and moved his record to 19-5-2.

Since a pair of losses in 2017 and 2018 to Alexandre Pantoja and Sergio Pettis, Moreno is unbeaten, going 5-0-2 with wins over Figueiredo, Brandon Royval and Jussier Formiga. 

He stepped away from the UFC after those two defeats, capturing the Legacy Fighting Alliance title vs. Maikel Perez before returning. 

Figueiredo won the UFC belt in 2020 with a first round submission of Joseph Benavidez. He made a successful title defense vs. Alex Perez before battling Moreno to a majority draw and retaining his belt in 2020.

The rematch did not go his way, as he suffered a third round submission defeat. 

Since signing with the UFC, Figueiredo is 9-2-1 with wins over John Moraga, Pantoja, Tim Elliot and Benavidez.
