It’s another SmackDown In A Nutshell…and after what happened on RAW, Seth Rollins seeks revenge on Roman Reigns.
In case you’ve not been paying attention, a reminder as to why Rollins seeks revenge on Reigns…
On this past RAW, Reigns had Jimmy and Jey Uso pay Seth Rollins a visit.
So, it seems likely and reasonable to expect Seth Rollins on SmackDown.
After all, if he seeks revenge on Reigns, where better to find him?
And, with the Rumble barely a week away, it’s all about the hype.
So, without further delay, it is time for…
Let’s crack open this Nutshell and see what happens!
By default, this one was the main event.
In fairness, the main event was a really strong match.
However…even if it wasn’t…most of the rest of the show was just bad.
Basically…most of the rest of the card.
So many matches that were too short or too uneventful.
I am going with Seth Rollins.
On RAW, Owens and Rollins are heels. But here on SmackDown?
They get to be playing the face role.
And, it’s fun.
Can’t say that there was one.
Feels like Madcap Moss tonight.
Nothing worth speaking of.
We know there’s been plenty of chatter about him showing up in the Rumble, if ever WWE opened their own Forbidden Door.
Last week, we saw him shown on TV, via old clips of The Shield.
But never did I expect Seth Rollins to mention Mox, by name, on SmackDown. And yet, here we are.
Two minor ones:
Charlotte seemed to have issues getting her robe off.
Xia Li seems to have had issues sliding under the bottom rope ahead of her confronting Natalya.
The rest of the segment was kinda…meh. But…
Johnny Knoxville stunning or shocking Sami with the cattle prod was funny.
I don’t think it was really on, even the second time, because of the sound effects used…but it was funny.
The brand split is dying, with this time around the excuse being…it’s Rumble time.
Notable appearances by Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Big E.
Also, nothing to do with brands, but Summer Rae was in the crowd as well. Kid Rock too..
And this ol’ guy…
If you were hoping for a quick conclusion to Sonya-Naomi…well we are well past that point.
It got dragged out for yet another week. To be honest, there are some matches that are worth the wait…this one will not be it.
I mean, when we waited a year for Cena and The Rock? Worth it (maybe).
But for as long as we have been waiting for Naomi/Sonya? It’s a certainty that the match will not be that good, and it’s likely most of us just want it over.
We should take bets…what happens first: Veer shows up to RAW…or Naomi and Sonya get to fight? Considering one has a match next week…
Two hours, dominated by Roman Reigns and The Usos…along with some RAW backup.
If anything, I am beginning to feel like WWE could have easily built up to Rollins and Reigns as a WrestleMania match.
Like, there’s a ton there. Nothing against whatever match ends up happening there for Reigns…but it’s fun seeing Rollins chase the big prize again.
Well, next week we might finally see Naomi battle Sonya Deville…which is like, perfect WWE.
As in, why not hold Deville out until she could be a surprise for the Rumble? We’ve waited this long, another week won’t matter.
The brand split may be dying. Or maybe it’s a sort of trial…or it’s just a few weeks of one-off appearances.
But, if the ratings get a boost…it will be here more often.
