Things just got a whole lot worse for both Prince Andrew and his nephew Prince Harry, as it’s been revealed that Buckingham Palace is trying to figure out how to remove them from one of their most important roles.

Crushing Blow For Prince Andrew And Prince Harry

Daily Mail reports that Buckingham Palace officials would like to remove Andrew and Harry from the role of Counsellors of State, which is an extremely important position within the British royal family.

With the tragic passing of Queen Elizabeth’s spouse Prince Philip last April, the Counsellors of State are the next four people in the line of succession who meet specific criteria.

Andrew and Harry are still two of the four Counsellors of State, meaning that they could still be called upon to take the place of the Queen if illness or absence shoulder render her unable to carry out her duties.

If they were called upon to take the Queen’s place, the two controversial men could do things like sign important documents, attend Privy Council meetings, and receive the credentials of new ambassadors to the United Kingdom.

Prince Charles, the heir-apparent, and Prince William are the other two Counsellors of State.

‘It’s A Genuine Problem’

“It is a genuine problem that the Palace is looking to address,” said one royal source. “Can you imagine the Duke of York having to sign official documents, for example, because the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge were both abroad, and the Queen became ill? It’s not an exaggeration to say it could put the monarchy in jeopardy.”

Other sources said that Andrew and Harry could not be stripped of their roles unless an Act of Parliament is passed first. If they do end up being removed, they could be replaced by Princess Anne and Camilla Parker Bowles.

“There could be events later this year which make such a change necessary,” the source said, referring to the potential outcome of Andrew’s sexual assault court case and the publication of Harry’s memoirs.

Platinum Jubilee Medal

While previous reports indicated that Prince Andrew and Prince Harry would be ineligible for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medal next month, Daily Mail has since reported that they will in fact be given these medals. They were each already stripped of their royal patronages and military titles.

“The list of recipients hasn’t been finalized as yet but, in common with previous jubilees, it is likely that wider members of the Royal Family would receive the medal,” a source said. “In previous jubilees the medals have been widely distributed throughout the working and non working members of the Royal Family. They are funded privately and are commemorative.”

Andrew was recently stripped of certain titles and patronages due to his personal connection to the late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and related legal troubles.

Harry’s decision to step down as a senior royal in March of 2021 with his wife Meghan Markle cost him his titles and patronages.

The Platinum Jubilee medal is set to be awarded on February 6 to members of the Armed Forces, police, fire, emergency and prison services in commemoration of the Queen’s record-breaking 70 years on the British throne.

While Andrew and Harry are undoubtedly relieved that they will in fact be given this medal, they will certainly be squirming at the prospect of being stripped of one of the most coveted royal roles.
