These days, it often seems like virtually every Hollywood star enjoys nothing more than lecturing their fans about their radically liberal political views. That’s what makes the comments of Oscar-winning actress Goldie Hawn during a recent interview with former Fox News host Megyn Kelly about why she avoids speaking out about politics so darn refreshing!
First, who doesn’t love Goldie Hawn? Whether you love her most in Private Benjamin or Overboard, the 76-year-old actress is a fan favorite.
Megyn Kelly And Goldie Hawn Sound Off Hollywood Politics
Kelly began the interview for The Daily Wire by telling Hawn exactly how she thinks the average American takes these political lectures from Hollywood.
“I think it’s why it drives people crazy when Hollywood tries to act holier than thou and starts lecturing middle America about morality and so on,” she said. “And you know, these people sitting in Iowa who have never done any, they’ve never tried to put someone on a casting couch … They’re like, you could save your lectures for somebody else.”
Hawn responded by saying that she agrees with this sentiment.
“That’s right, exactly. And the idea that … I do have a feeling about keeping — Okay, how do I say this?” Hawn said. “A lot of Hollywood has a lot of missions, right? And you know, you want to put your name onto something that you believe in, but it doesn’t make a difference. And that’s the reality.”
‘I Stay In My Lane’
This is why that when it comes to herself, Goldie Hawn has decided to forego speaking out about politics.
“I stay in my lane,” Hawn said. “The reality is, is that if we want to do anything, we want to do it for all people, not just for a group or whatever.”
“What makes polarity even more is creating teams on either side of the aisle,” she concluded. “And I don’t think that’s what we do. I think we entertain. I think we bring awareness to people, just of their ability to laugh, to have joy, to experience it, to cry. We are emotional beings and create emotion in others. And it’s in this case, I think we’re in service. I don’t think we should forget that our first job is to help people laugh, feel something, escape.”

Ricky Gervais Torches Celebrity Political Lectures
Goldie Hawn isn’t the only celebrity who feels this way about her fellow stars’ political lectures.
This comes two years after the comedian Ricky Gervais let the attendees of the 2020 Golden Globe Awards know that nobody cares about their political views.
“So, if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech,” Gervais told the audience of Hollywood stars, according to The Blaze. “You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. So, if you win, come up, accept your little award. Thank your agent and your god, and f*** off!”

We’re glad to see that at least two Hollywood stars seem to have good heads on their shoulders, and actually be down to earth! If only there were more celebrities out there like Goldie Hawn and Ricky Gervais.
