Ciryl Gane’s Team On Francis Ngannou, UFC 270 Fight

Ciryl Gane gets his shot at Francis Ngannou this Saturday at UFC 270.

But Gane’s team is starting the verbal warfare early.

Gane, the interim UFC heavyweight champion, will unify the belts when he meets Ngannou inside the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

His coach, Fernand Lopez, was a guest on Submission Radio to discuss the bout, Ngannou’s contract and more.

Ngannou’s contract expires after the bout with Gane, and he has yet to sign a new one. Something Lopez is not impressed by.

“No, I’m not. I’m not at all because it’s not smart. Again, let me be clear. I think everyone in this job are looking to get more money,” Lopez said. “But again, don’t think that you are the one to understand everything if you are the one to change things. I really believe that you can change things by being good in negotiation. Being good in negotiation means that you understand your value and you understand how you become that value and where and how did you make to get there.

“Once people understand that, it’s easy to negotiate. First of all, you need to understand that the UFC is not a non-profit organization, it’s not a governmental organization, it’s a private company. And when I have my private company, I do whatever I want to do. If I want to pay you $1, I pay you $1. If you don’t want, you walk away. If you signed the fucking contract, you stick to the contract. That’s it. Period.

“And then, if you decide that you want to renegotiate, that’s a possibility. But again, the negotiation will find a good place whenever you give something and you take something. If you try to take over, that’s the problem.”
