Bill Cosby Defends His Legacy Ahead Of New Docuseries About His Demise – ‘We Need To Talk About Cosby’

Disgraced comedian Bill Cosby is trying to defend his legacy days before the premiere of the four-part Showtime docuseries “We Need To Talk About Cosby,” which chronicles his downfall.

Check out a trailer for the docuseries below.

Cosby Slams Docuseries As A ‘PR Hack’

The docuseries chronicles Cosby’s fall from grace from being seen as America’s dad to being accused by dozens of women of drugging and raping them. Cosby released a statement to People Magazine through his spokesperson in which he described this docuseries as nothing more than a “PR hack.”

“Let’s talk about Bill Cosby,” the statement read. “Mr. Cosby has spent more than 50 years standing with the excluded; made it possible for some to be included; standing with the disenfranchised; and standing with those women and men who were denied respectful work … because of race and gender … within the expanses of the entertainment industries.”

“Let’s talk about Bill Cosby,” it continued. “Mr. Cosby continues to be the target of numerous media that have, for too many years, distorted and omitted truths … intentionally. Despite media’s repetitive reports of allegations against Mr. Cosby, none have ever been proven in any court of law.”

Cosby’s Sexual Assault Conviction

“Let’s talk about Bill Cosby,” the statement added. “In June, 2021, the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court released Mr. Cosby; and the court’s Chief Justice defined the Pennsylvania Montgomery County District Attorney’s behavior as reprehensible.”

Cosby, 84, was found guilty in 2018 on three counts of aggravated indecent assault for the alleged 2004 sexual assault of Andrea Constand. He was sentenced to three to ten years in prison, but was released last summer after his conviction was overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The court ruled that there was a “due process violation” because the district attorney had made a deal with Cosby not to use his own confession against him.

Cosby Wants America To Be ‘A Democracy’

“Let’s talk about Bill Cosby. Mr. Cosby knows the realities of prosecutorial violations; and that those violations are threats to the integrity of our nation’s criminal justice systems. That is a subject matter for a professional documentary,” the statement concluded. “Let’s talk about Bill Cosby. Mr. Cosby vehemently denies all allegations waged against him. Let’s talk about Bill Cosby. He wants our nation to be what it proclaims itself to be: a democracy.”

“We Need To Talk About Cosby” was shown at the Sundance Film Festival this past Saturday, and its first episode is set to premiere on Showtime on Sunday night.

Despite his repeated denials of the sexual assault claims that have been made against him by dozens of women, many feel that Cosby is a sexual predator who belongs behind bars. It will certainly be interesting to see what new details about the allegations against him come to light in this docuseries.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
